Position the U-shaped belt cradle against the bottom of the belt at a 90 degree angle and locate the large O-ring to a reference point, record reading. 3. Push upward on the rubber bumper until the small O-ring touches the bottom of the tool body. Re-align the large O-ring to the reference point; difference in the reading is the belt deflection. If you have a belt driven motorcycle with 10 lbs tension check for deflection you need this tool. I looked at Harley Davidson and some other manufacturers before going with the OTC. The OTC Tool has clear markings, is easy to use so it takes seconds to check the belt deflection on your motorcycle. The cost of this tool is well worth it considering how much damage can be done by a drive belt that's not tightened to proper specifications. Don't guess , use the right tool !

Got this to adjust the drive belt for my Harley Davidson Night Rod. This tool is well built, simple, works perfectly well and as designed. For the price, you just can beat it. The OEM HD tool is way pricier and in my opinion, exactly the same thing. I have only used the tool once so I cannot vouch for its longevity, but seeing that it is a very simple and basic tool, unless you are abusing it, I don't see why it wont last you many years.

Not really accurate, but close enough. I wish it had a stop that you could set or at least a click you can feel at set pressure. But it works well enough to get you close.

It's a useful and pretty much must-have tool if you have a belt-drive motorcycle and want to do some of the maintenance yourself. It's fairly easy to use, but could use some improvements. The 10lb mark is hard to see and while it has an o-ring to help sight it, I would imagine overtime the o-ring will slip easier, if not break off. Still, I recommend it because it will get the job done and pay for itself the first use.

Belt belong on your pants not on your bike. However if you are still running a drive belt and not a chain this tool will be a reliable deflection gauge for efficient operation of the drive belt after doing maintenance on the rear tire or rear parts of your bike. Cheers!

Very good tool! Tension Adjustment is correct ! Markings for Tension Adjustment is Poor !!! Numbers seem like they won’t last long ! Problem can be solved with some markings with a Scribe or another kind of permanent solution !

Have always just trusted my feel when checking belt deflection, but thought I would give this tool a try based on low cost and positive reviews. Seems to work well, however I have not verified accuracy yet. Interesting that results using this tool were pretty much the same as when I used my finger to push the belt up and using what I thought was about 10lbs. All the same, I will use this tool going forward since I have it in my tool box, and will be following the procedure as defined in the service manual.
