It is not a motion detection like I thought. Too late to return since my husband put it up. I like the light ,bright lamination. My fault since I ordered the wrong one. OTHERWISE a nice light.

My carport has a high ceiling but there was plenty of chain and wire so don't worry there. The fixture has a classic rubbed bronze look. I replaced an old painted over fixture (yuck!) which was painted white just like the carport ceiling (double yuck!). The dark bronze offsets the white ceiling great!It comes with everything needed to replace a standard 1930-2000s light fixture. I'm estimating very loosely. My house was built in 1946, the junction box has old cloth insulation, two wires, all the brackets lined up, wires connected, boom, it's working. Ground it! Hire an electrician or know what you're doing and wear proper tested, rated rubber safety gloves and shut off breakers/fuses. Safety first
