Needed something to shade our kitchen slider. The metal handle gets so hot you need an oven mit to grab it. I chose this awning based on analysis of the reviews. Bad reviews were mostly about assembly and installation. The awning is not hard to assemble. Certainly easier than most Ikea furniture I've put together. The instructions could use a dose of western logic, but mistakes are easy to recover from. Once assembled it feels structurely solid. The spring arms have sufficient tension to keep the awning taunt and deploying and retracting are effortless. The only complaint I have would be the sharp edges on the fabric channels. I filed them down, but they have the potential to tear the awning when assembling if you're not careful.

I bought this to stick on the back of an old u-haul van that I have set up as a rolling workshop, this way I don't have to work in the sun. No regrets. The book makes it very clear that two people are needed to install this, but I had no trouble with the 8x6 by myself. I used my own bolts to mount the brackets to the back of the van body, and a few short bungees to go around the roll when its retracted just to keep that dangly end flap from flapping when I'm on the road. I could have assembled it without the dangly end flap and thus skipped the tacky bungees, but that extra sliver of shade has come in clutch a couple times on the job already. So far no issues at all either related to build quality or my off-spec use, even rolls in and out nice when I'm parked on a slope.

Pleasantly surprised at the quality of this awning. If it holds up, the product itself deserves 5 stars. My husband assembled and installed. The only reason we took off a star was the poor quality of the instructions and my follow up with a question to the seller. If the instructions were printed on regular size paper to allow the illustrations to be enlarged, they would be much better. Also, they should have a native English speaker review them. Some of the words and phrasing were odd, although he was able to figure it out. My follow up with the seller was to see if I could purchase just the fabric, since I'm sure it will eventually fail in the hot sun. But they do not sell replacement fabric. So that was disappointing. The good news is the metal parts seem pretty substantial and overall, this appears to be a good value. Time will tell.

We badly needed some type of shade to use our backyard effectively and to complement our new deck. A permanent roof? We don't want a permanent structure. What about a gazebo? It won't stop the rain completely. So a retractable awning would be perfect. I looked around from local ads and made an appointment for a quote and the lowest price they gave me was $1500.00 for a simple small German made awning... it goes up to $5k. I was ready to pull the trigger when I thought of Amazon and found these. I thought for less than $200 I can get two to cover most of my backyard. And after reading the great reviews though not many it was worth trying. I ordered a couple even if the shipping cost me $100 it still came out less than $400. It arrived on time while my contractor is still around to install it. It took him a little over an hour to install both and they look great looks well made and sturdy. You can also adjust the angle of the awning to suite your needs and cranking it in and out was very easy and smooth. I guess the only thing left is if its durability but at this price I don't think it would be too bad if you have to replace it sooner than expected.

We had this awning installed for 8 months when we found it had collapsed with one end fallen off the wall. When we looked for the cause we found the bracket holding the unit to the wall had failed, it appeared to be glued to the awning bracket. This was a dangerous situation, this weighs 41 lbs, had someone been below when it came down it could have resulted in a serious injury or worse. When we contacted the vendor, Outsunny, we got the brushoff, despite the danger and faulty workmanship they had no replacement parts and since it was out of warranty, no responsibility. It seems unlike the auto industry there is no recall for most other unsafe itemsThey claim the brackets were not glued as they appeared but welded. A welder I know inspected the brackets and commented that there were two thin weld strips along the top and bottom edges of the bracket, so not very strong. It snapped even though the awning was only partly extended. We were told by Outsunny this unit had been discontinued, even though it’s still for sale on amazon today. While we accept the warranty has run out the fact that this unit is dangerous and has no replacement parts is not acceptable.Money down a black hole, over $350 for the unit and installation. And a good brand to avoid.

I had been talking to my wife about putting an awning on our front desk for years. We finally decided to go for it. We researched multiple awnings knowing we had a maximum of 8 feet in width to go above our picture window. We finally settled on this one after reading dozens of reviews. Fits like a glove. Very functional and attractive. Installation was straightforward using to peope. I would suggest using a 2 x and good anchors. Opens and closes with a minimum of effort. Really improved the look and comfort of the deck. For the quality of this item the price was great.

[Update - Seller did reach out to me to see if there was anything they could do for me. I declined their generous offer since the awning is working correctly. Hopefully they can get the manufacturer to improve the instructions.]Took awhile to get it installed due to some really awful instructions. There should be detailed drawings showing bracket placement and clearance issues, but you're left on your own to figure it out. I had to redrill some of the tubing because the factory messed up the hole alignment. Seems like a pretty durable product... time will tell.

Good product. Brackets should be a little bit bigger in order to distribute the weight of the awning to the house and easier to match both brackets to the exterior wall studs.

Il est de bonne qualité, facile à installer, mais il est un peu lourd, il est important de renforcer le mur où il est installé
