Excellent grater for grating hard medium to hard cheeses (pecorino, parm/reggianno, favia, etc. Not so good for soft cheeses. Breaks down simply for cleaning (3 pieces) and re-assembles easily. Would have liked 1-2 more stainless barrels for different shavings, but it only comes with one (fine). I do like the simplicity of the product, ease of use, and the construction is quality made.

My kitchen is full of Oxo products. All of them are well-designed and extremely functional--but I return to this company time and time again because their customer support is equally impressive. I stupidly lost the small plastic cap that closes off the collection chamber where the grated cheese falls, so I emailed Oxo to inquire about how I might purchase a replacement part. Amazingly, they just shipped me an entire new grater free of charge--despite me making it clear that this was my fault and not a warranty issue. That's why I always choose an Oxo product if possible. They really endeavor to wow their customers.This grater is very easy to use and clean. It's a cinch to assemble and operate, and it breaks down very quickly for washing. I only grate hard cheese, so soap is usually unnecessary. Hit it with hot water from your kitchen sink sprayer and you're good to go. Grate size is small enough that you can easily dispense the grated cheese from a shaker bottle designed for spices. Since the collection chamber mostly air-tight with the cap installed, you could also just leave the unused portion of grated cheese in the grater and stick the whole thing in the refrigerator.It doesn't take a lot of strength to grate hard parmesan, and the circular grating surface makes short work of the job. Fill the top chamber twice and you'll easily have enough grated cheese to fill a 6-ounce shaker bottle. The design is very simple, and there are no small parts to worry about (unless you brain cramp to the extent I did). Like all of my other Oxo products, this one is easy to recommend. OXO stuff is very well made and good value and this is no different. Works perfectly, well made. Only complaint is it's hard to get stuck pieces of ground cheese out of the edges of the grater blade. Wish it was removable so you could do a complete clean. It takes a while to get the gunk out of the edges, but aside from that, it's a grate grater.

This rotary grater is great. I was recently grating some cheese with a regular grater, and I thought there must be a better way. I remembered that these rotary graters are used in restaurants so I thought I would see if I could find one. I picked this one and I'm so happy with it I bought 2 more. It's very easy to use and it's designed so that you can store the cheese in it between uses.

OXO is a great brand. I've always had a good experience with their products. You pay a little more, but it's well worth it. This grater stores in the refrigerator when it contains a wedge of cheese. The user can take it out and crank the handle to shred cheese. Pre-shredded cheese is expensive, so this nifty gadget saves money and is easy to use. I buy a better quality of parmesan and still save money over the mediocre pre-shedded products.

It worked great on hard cheese but the soft cheese got stuck and jammed up and did not work and was hard to clean out.

I didn't expect this grater to last very long, but it has exceed my expectations. It is quite sturdy and easy to use even with cheese that is quite hard. The grated cheese is uniform (no lumps). And it comes apart easily for cleaning (which is important when you forget to remove cheese and weeks later find that it gone moldy). It has a cap so that you store the entire grater in the refrigerator (which would have been a good idea to avoid the previous moldy cheese surprise). I would highly recommend this product.

We got this in the UK, but it shipped from the US, it doesn't seem to be distributed by OXO directly here. Why? Strange because this is the best grater we have ever tried, and we have gone through a lot of similar products over the years.This one is typical OXO excellence. The mechanical design is perfectly balanced, so the structure will resist to the pressure where is needed, there are no haphazard spots that could break over time because of mechanical stress. Both the cheese press and the crank are very sturdy, there is no way they are going to break even after prolonged use. They have silicone grips so the handling is secure and efficient.The silicone seal around the press and the drum lid are a brilliant idea, so you can leave it in the fridge with some cheese inside with no risk of going rancid. This reduce the need for putting the pieces in the dishwasher, preventing unnecessary wear and tear.The grating performance is better than average, the cheese comes out finer than all the other similar graters we have had. For the best results, we found that applying a more gentle pressure is better, even if takes a little longer, because the cheese flakes will be much smaller, resulting in more flavour in the recipe.If you are shopping for parmesan grater we strongly recommend this one, it's absolutely worth the wait and the cost.

Very easy grind. There is a nice seal and stays closed in the fridge. Space for chunk of cheese a bit small but easier to store in the fridge. Took the big slice of Pamesan and choped it into adequate chunks and froze. Easy when needed.
