The coiled cable is the key improvement in this connector. With some other similar plugs, they seem the correct length until you change the position of the bike rack, and the plug disconnects due to excessive tension. The coiled length of cable gives you some give when you need it, and retracts when the rack returns to the closer position. Highly recommend.

bought this for a friend who recently put a flat bed on his truck and the trailer connector was to far under bed. its been 4 years or so when it came in i plugged it in and left it there it hasn't had any issue connecting to a trailer or with the lights not working. was expecting to have to replace this every year or 2.

Do you need an extension that can extend to reach those recessed hitch plugs??? Then grab one of these baby’s! It really worked well for my 4Runner, considering the plug is up underneath the bumper. It also has a nifty light to show that all of your bulbs are functioning… helped me realize one of mine was out! Great product!

4 pin great for small trailers and eliminates the need for a dangling cable to either weather in the elements or get caught/tangled or damaged

I regularly use my tractor to tow my trailer and the trailer wires were about 6 inches too short to reach the plug on the tractor. This little extension is perfect to bridge the gap. The coil also takes up slack but stretches to allow sharp turns. It now lives in the toolbox I've attached to the tractor for times I need to pull the trailer on the road.

Keep in mind that the coil is stiff and will create excessive tension on each plug end. I bought the 3' size and the length fit okay, but it had too much pulling tension on the plugs. It's better to only have the coil there IF it's needed for turns etc. The longer (5' size) will STILL be short when installed, and it will still hold the extension cord up in a short application.
