I used this to add a third hinge to a farm gate that I had built a wooden fence on. The extra weight necessitated a third hinge on each gate as it was too much weight otherwise.

Update:I reordered this item as new, not a warehouse item. I am happy to report that it is as described. Adding stars to reflect.Amazon Warehouse-you done messed up.Original review:Giant caveat: this is a review of an Amazon Warehouse item, so it may or may not reflect the actual items.I was sent 2 pair of j bolts that looked nothing like the pictured item.Problem 1: 4 of the nuts were the correct size and 4 were not. They had obviously been replaced by the previous customer. I can't believe that this is related to the actual product. I blame Amazon quality control for this one.Problem 2: They are just short. They are 4 inches at best, when I purchased 6 inch bolts. And even if I needed 4 inch bolts, there is a wasted inch of that with no threads. I have no idea where the fault lies here. Maybe the previous customer sent back an entirely different bolt. Or maybe they were sent back because they aren't 6 inch bolts, as advertised.Buyer beware. You may be sending them back, too.
