About this item

  • Welcome the newest member of the black-eyed Susan family—bold, flower happy, formal black and white black eyed Susie
  • As if arrayed in evening attire, this smart vine is prepared to dress up any part of your garden or even your containers. Let it race up a trellis, festoon the mailbox or pillar, or show off against a wall or fence.
  • Black Eyed Susie is very quick to bloom, offers a super long season of color, and has a classic color pattern that complements everything in the garden. The petals are white (with hints of softest yellow toward the center), surrounding a bold black eye. And the blooms are VERY profuse, simply covering this 5 to 8 foot vine over a long early summer to frost season. Talk about long blooming—Black Eyed Susie keeps you in color for up to 6 months.
  • If you like this black-eyed Susan, take a look at her cousins Sunrise Surprise and Blushing Susie, both with rich mixed colors. And then there's the classic orange yellow variety that has been delighting gardeners for generations.
  • Happiest in full sun and moist, well drained soil, Black Eyed Susie should be sown directly into the soil or container in which she will be grown. Plant the seeds when the soil warms in spring, and in no time you'll be training up this vigorous little vine and enjoying its big bounty of bright color.

I was skeptical that these were indeed white Black-eyed Susan vines. I've been hard-pressed to find any online videos about the white ones. There are many videos for the yellow and orange. So naturally I had my doubts. But to my surprise in just 4 months these gorgeous white Black-eyed flowers bloomed. I'm growing them indoors under a grow light. Started from seed under a table top grow light. Then I moved them to where I initially wanted them (above my bookshelf) under a GE red spectrum grow light. And that's when the flowering took off. It's vining and doing it's thing. I'm looking forward to more flowers and a fuller vine. It's filling out quite nicely after only 5 months.

Seeds from 2007!? I saw other reviews with the same complaint. Not sure why these continue to be sold. Seeds can be stored safely for 1 yr. Without compromising germination. 10 yrs max with degradation affecting germination. Pretty sure these won’t grow. Total waste of $$$

The first time I saw these flowers was at a small nursery in NC. The flowers are so bright, fun and attractive against their dark green climbing foliage. I couldn’t find these flowers at the nurseries near my home so I decided to search the internet and by online.I decided to go with this company to buy seeds because buying live plants online with shipping is expensive. The seeds came in a compact sealed packet. There were actually 11 seeds.I put them in a cardboard egg carton with potting soil. I used a water spray bottle everyday to keep them moist but not drowning. The first couple seeds popped up in 8 days with the others popping up after a few days apart. I am now at 9 out of 11 seeds working, which I think is a great ratio of success. Compared to how much it is to buy live plants, I’ve now got 9 for the price of one. They all look healthy and happy. I can’t wait to pot them and see the happy flowers next.

i start all my seeds indoors in seed blocks under LED lighting, been growing organic for 30 years. 100% of the seeds i planted, germinated. So far, so good. i bought the white and the "Black Eyed." The picture shows yellow, but the description reads: yelloworange. i do not know if that means a mix of yellow and orange BES, or if they are calling what's in the picture "yelloworange"? We'll see. i will be okay if it's a mix of both yellow and orange seeds, though i'd like to know which is which instead of a roll of the dice situation, that's the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars. As long as they turn out true to their description, these are great seeds. Pricey, but my local nursery was charging $35 for a Black Eyed Susan Vine last year, so still cheaper to start your own from seed.

I was kind of surprised to receive the packet of seeds in 2024 being dated as packaged in 2007. I am happy to try them out and will give higher than 3 stars if they sprout & grow. Keeping fingers crossed they will be viable. Thanks for the quick shipping.UPDATE: None of the seeds sprouted. Big waste of time and money. Would not recommend making this purchase.
