New ink is good inkThis is conventional oil based ball point pen ink. It would appear that ink can grow old and in this case the new ink worked better than the original. The pen requires less pressure to get the ink down. This fit my Parker Jotter pen just fine. The new ink seems to go down to paper easier than old ink. Ink pens are nice because they are more conventional/widespread than fountain pens and the ink, being oil based, is not prone to the affects of water. A cheap/free plastic pen may work well too. May be hard to justify a replacement cartridge but a quality pen may be less prone to leakage/skipping etc if that's important to you.

I got the gel refill for my Parker jotter after getting more into some gel pens for note taking recently and it is a far superior writing experience than the standard ballpoint that comes with the jotter. There is no blotches and you don’t have to test the pen to get it working. One thing I will say though is while writing once I dropped the pen-tip down-which I know is not ideal but that made the pen unusable and I had to switch refills earlier than expected.

I had to return the first order. There were two pen refills shipped in a plastic envelope. One refill was good but the other had a dent in the ink shaft. Most likely from something either hitting it in transit or something heavy being set on it. Evidently the plastic shipping envelope was not enough protection for shipping. It was promptly replaced by Amazon or the company. The product fits my pen and I love the gel ink. I would purchase this product again.

Cheap product from China. Barrel is now plastic rather than the original metal. The bottom section is a little fatter and now sticks when you attempt to retract the tip. You can work around the problem by pressing the tip onto a hard surface after you've clicked the retraction button. The refill does this in multiple Parker Jotter pens that I have. In one of the two cartridges, the ink stopped flowing smoothly after a few weeks and began 'dropping out' while I was writing. I ordered again, thinking it might have been a fluke. No joy. Both had the sticking issue and one of the refills never would write properly. Parker used to stand for quality. It's really sad how far they've let the quality drop.
