Pennington Kentucky 31 Tall Fescue helped revolutionize the grass seed industry. This durable, heat-tolerant variety was an early leader in putting low-maintenance, disease-resistant lawns within the average homeowner’s reach. Decades later, this economical, traditional tall fescue grass remains an industry standard for cool-season lawn grasses. This tough, drought-resistant grass thrives in lawns that receive 4 to 8 hours of sun. Plant it in the early spring or early fall and start to see results within 8 to 21 days. This 40-pound bag covers up to 8,000 square feet for overseeding an existing lawn and 3,330 square feet for starting a new lawn from scratch. While most grass seed companies buy their seed on the open market, we are the only major grass seed company that works directly with a network of dedicated growers. Built on decades of trust and integrity, our relationships with seed growers and their families now span multiple generations. Our legacy of working directly with farmers to bring you the finest grass seed possible helps ensure their success and ours. At Pennington, we know our seed and the farmers who grow it. From field to final product, that's the Pennington way.

Exact same as what we bought at home depot but cheaper. We will be buying more in the spring!! I must say that the seeds take a little longer to sprout but almost all of the seeds have sprouted!! Worth the wait and our yard already looks great. We completely redid the yard. Overfeeding is going to make it look even better.

I do not recommend anyone waste $75 on this. I work with grass seed after every job that’s contracted through the company I work for. Normally, I would have went to a feed store and picked some up, at the fraction of the cost. But I didn’t have time to drive all around since work was getting busy and having 3 kids I solely care for alone. I have no clue of all the factors of where this bag was prior to being in my possession, all I know is it’s been over a month now and not a single seed has sprouted. It’s been on a sprinkler system since it was laid. Lawn was aerated & added the proper nourishments to grow and keep healthy & full grass. No clue why this seed refused to sprout. But I’m beyond irritated I wasted $75 on this damn bag for no reason. Can take up to 28 days for it to sprout depending where you’re at, as it says on the bag….but obviously Amazon doesn’t have long enough return policy for it to work for this product.

I honestly didn’t plan to include pictures but after cutting the grass for the 1st time it looked pretty decent so I took them. I don’t have any before pictures but you can see just by the color difference of the grass where the “new” grass is.I put in a new driveway and had to have backfill about 24” from the driveway into the existing grass and the added turnaround to the left in the second picture I had added so there was a very large area with a good grade that needed to be replanted. From the time it was planted it has been about 8-10 weeks with me diligently watering the grass as well as using a starter fertilizer from Farm & Fleet. I let the grass grow for a while before actually cutting it with my mower. What you’re seeing here is the actual 1st time cut using my mower. You’ll see weeds in there but I don’t atribute the seed to that. I’m sure it was in the dirt that was used as backfill and I did try to do weed control before planting but as you can see it wasn’t with the greatest success. All in all I’m very happy with this and I’m positive it’ll fill itself in thru the fall months here and I’ll continue on with this in spring.

Prefer tall fescue as it is soft to walk on, this bladed, and resilient. Lawn looks great. Pennington grass seed, in my opinion, is better than Scotts, which i used to use before changing over.
