My Big Blue whole-house filter is about eight years old and still using the original O-ring. During the past few years, the only way to get the housing to not leak after changing the filter was to use the wrench to super-tighten it (not a good idea). I even had to use lubricant (like Vaseline) to help. So I decided this time to get a new O-ring.The first thing I noticed is that this O-ring fit the housing perfectly. It is actually a little thinner than my old O-ring. I don't think my old O-ring got fatter over the years; I wonder if it was the incorrect size to begin with. Anyhow, I didn't lubricate this new O-ring, but I did clean any debris away from the groove it sits in as well as the threadings. I only had to mildly HAND-TIGHTEN the housing this time and voila! No leaks! (Of course I always bleed the air out of the filter housing while slowly opening the water supply to allow a gradual filling of the filter with water; I have a spigot right at the output of the filter just for that purpose).In summary, I am extremely pleased with this new O-ring and would recommend it to anyone with a Big Blue 20" filter who is having any difficulty with leaks after replacing the filter.

After replacing the cartridge in my water filter, I noticed the o-ring was literally "melting" away,my hands were getting dirty from it, etc. I ordered this and replaced the o-ring. It was slightlybigger for the fit, but I just put it in, closed the lid, and it doesn't leak. No problems.

Packaging makes it look like two smaller o-rings. The o-ring is coiled in the plastic bag, so they may appear to be the wrong size.This fits perfect in the Pentek Big Blue Heavy Duty 4"x20" filter sumps.There are reviews stating that it is too big, just make sure you order the o-ring that is meant for your filter.There are also reviews of people complaining that the o-ring has stretched to a larger size and wont fit when changing the filter.O-rings expand over time which is why you need to replace them often, sometimes each time you replace the filter, depending on how often you replace filters. For example I have a three stage filter system on the home, first stage is replaced often, every 3 months. 2nd stage every 6 mo, third stage every year. Plan ahead and buy several o-rings at a time. (which is what I do)

These can be sneaky to install. Some fit in my BB20 filter housing like butter. Others are a touch too large and require a lot of lubricant to get them to stay in place. Once installed properly, there are no leaks.Installing these O-Rings will be the most frustrating part of changing your water filters.

Works Perfectly. It will seem kind of big at first. Manipulate it and it will fit perfectly. Careful screwing housing back on. I used this with Plumbers grease to keep the seal from dry rotting.

Just as other reviewers have mentioned, these rings come packaged doubled over. When you unloop, they remain twisted and will not lay flat in the housing channel. Further, they are just a smidge too long (large) for the channel in the Big Blue filter housing and no amount of persuasion will get them to lay flat in the channel long enough to apply some silicone grease and install. I threw these in the garbage and am cheated out of the money spent. I had an OEM replacement ring that came with the Big Blue and it is slightly thinner than these as well, and it fit perfectly. Now I don't know what I'm do next time a need a replacement since these are marked as the official part and are stupid and useless. I'm going to have to find another supplier.

The o-rings are of great quality but the size was not what I needed. The diameter of the ring is too small for the sumps that I have.
