I use this lead for writing and some small sketches for build note taking at work. They don't list this as smudge proof, but it is. This is important for my use, as others will be using my notes in their work. It will write on damp paper and a variety of materials. Given the size of 1.3 mm I can't ever remember breaking this lead. I do recommend it.

Couldn’t find this size lead in many stores. Perfect! Lead is durable and works well w my student’s mechanical pencils, without a lot of breakage.

I have a Paper Mate handwriting mechanical pencil that takes 1.3 mm lead, couldn’t find them in the store. These fit but not perfect. When you press the button on the pencil the lead falls out. But otherwise they work fine.
