I've used it to rebuild 2 transmissions and set of rear axle bearings. Tool worked as advertised. The thread rod likes to flex if you're really pulling hard but it never bent. The jaws are a little weak and will slip if you don't have a good hold on the bearing. All in all I like it and would buy it again.

It only opened up to 3 inch shaft not to a 4 inch axle shaft, really not worth the hassle or the money. maybe that's why it was 20 percent off. it's not really big enough for some of the job's i have to doo! this item is not fore use on like truck's or big heavy equipment, it's only for small thins of that nature. I will say it's made of good quality steel and not that cheep junk like china mostly pawns off on America!

I almost returned this after looking closely at it and concluding that it was not forged as there are no machine marks where you would expect for forged parts. For example, the flat surface that looks machined where the bolts meet the bearing flange are textured and appears to be part of the casting like the rest of the cast part--definitely not machined. Even the threaded screw holds don't have signs of being machined after the casting or supposed forging as if the bolts were part of the casting and removed during cooling. The forge marks along the edge seem to be integrated into the casting as a fake feature and are inconsistent. In fact, the entire texture seems sand cast. I weighed this against my similarly-sized cast bearing separator that I've had for 25 years (which broke this wek, hence my reason to buy this new one) and this is slightly heavier (2.2 vs. 2.4kg) but is also slightly thicker in some areas which would explain that difference. I found the original manufacturer on Alibaba which appears to be PROJEN INDUSTRIAL COMPANY LTD, and there is no indication this is forged in the description. With that said, it held up well against the same ring and pinion that broke my original separator of the same size. For that reason, I'm OK with the purchase and the price. It works, but there is absolutely zero sign this was forged and many signs that it was cast. Nevertheless, a forged part would have been substantially more expensive.
