Details follow. Worked okay for me. The tool includes a cutter that precedes the tap needed for the insert. It’s about the same angle as a typical drill bit. Given its large diameter, it takes about 50 pounds force that you manually exert. Keeping it very straight is important or the insert will not be square and the spark plug will not seat properly.

My mower kept popping the spark plug while in use. This kit gave me new, clean threads for a new plug. Simple, cheap fix.. saved me from buying another mower!Tip: use lots of grease when drilling new threads

The step tap is only good to chase original threads. It will not thread for the insert without drilling first. instructions do not tell you that or what size bit is needed. Very misleading. DO NOT BUY

Didn’t really work for what I needed to do. Not sure how to explain it. You can’t use the power tool to put it in my hands and I didn’t know anyone strong enough too much force required in a tight spot that this is made for can’t be done. I give three stairs because maybe I’m just weak.
