So, although it is black it's not super hot because the weave is not super tight. It has a built-in elastic-style headband, which not only keeps perspiration out of your eyes, but it also allows for a flexible size range when it come to fit. Most fitted hats with an interior headband, fit one size and one size only... Not this hat, which makes it fit equally well whether you're head is shaved or you have a thick mop of hair, or even if you like to wear a bandanna under your hat... this hat, in most cases will still fit comfortably. Unfortunately, because these Grimm hats are made of a wider weave straw they're not as durable as say a tight-weaver harder hat... an nowhere near as durable as hats made from felt, leather, etc. But otherwise, it's an awesome hat for the money!

Great looking and feeling hat. I like the darker straw of it for sure.Only two slight displeasing qualities with it that I've noticed.First - it's 'one size fits all.' but when I bought it I am PRETTY POSITIVE that the item was listed as a large. It still fits me well though so it doesn't get docked much for that.Second - it's a little more fragile than I hoped it would be. I know I know, it's straw. But even the most minor abrasions seems to pull out at least a few strands. I don't have very high hopes for this hat lasting through much wear as a result.All said though it looks GREAT and it really keeps the sun off me. I shave my head so with no hair, it fits my 57 3/4 head very comfortably.If it surprises me and lasts longer than I am thinking it will, I might buy another in a few years.*Update*I've been wearing this hat for half a year and I love it more than I did when I got it. The wire in the brim makes it adjustable and easy to change the shape of. It's comfortable, keeps the sun off me, and is standing up well to regular use.I gave it +1 start for all that. Good job, hat.

This hat instantly added +10 to my swagger and -5 to my willingness to take nonsense. I really liked the look of this hat, so I decided to ignore the negative reviews. Bad idea! The way the hat is folded for shipping causes permanent, distortion, holes, and fraying to the material. First one was sent in a bubble mailer and second one was sent in a box, neither one is redeemable. In addition to those issues, very poor quality control, the point molded into the crown that should be at center point was extremely off-center (like 45 degrees off) compared to the ear straps.In further hubris, I thought that the replacement certainly couldn’t be as bad as the original (what were the odds?) so I didn’t bother to open the box, got distracted with life, and it is now past the return window. Save yourself, the pain and suffering and just completely pass on this one. What you will receive is just too far different from the pretty listing photo.

Super cute hat, great fit,however the hat arrived in a white plastic "envelope" (same packaging Amazon ships clothing in), so the hat looked like it had been run over by a truck.I'm attempting to reshape it by using the hard plastic insert that came with another hat I own, and I'm hoping it helps enough that it looks more like a cowboy hat than a beret.I should have splurged for a Stetson.

I was afraid it won’t fit my husband. But it fits amazingly and looks great. The only caveat is that it is a bit flimsy to hold. You can’t just throw it around, one has to take care while handling it.

The photos of the hat show a slight tea-stain or distressed, faded look. In reality the hat is solid brown. Not natural straw but just brown, no fading or tea stained look. I was disappointed when it arrived because it didn’t match my expectations but it’s grown on me. It’s light, very breathable, keeps my neck out of the sun.
