Philips AVENT comfort breast shells protect sore, cracked nipples and provide relief from engorgement during or between pumping and nursing. The ventilated inner shell, padded by a soft silicone cushion, gently presses on the areola, creating a slow trickle of milk. The outer shell prevents leaks, holding the milk until it can be collected or discarded. The silicone shells and pads can be sterilized in any Philips AVENT sterilizer or by boiling.

Shields Sore, Cracked Nipples
Philips AVENT comfort breast shells create a shield for nipples tender from breastfeeding. The soft silicone backing cushion fits snugly into your bra to protect you from chafing. The outer shell fits on top of the inner shell to hold released milk.
Collect Milk While Nursing or Pumping
While feeding or pumping, the closed breast shells can be placed against the non-nursing breast. Gentle pressure on the areola allows for a slow release of milk, easing engorgement and collecting the leaked milk for later feeding. A pouring spout aids in transferring milk to a sterilized bottle.
Release Between Feedings to Relieve Pressure
Comfort breast shells can also be worn between feedings to release a small amount of milk, relieving the discomfort and pressure of unexpressed milk. Only milk collected while pumping or feeding should be fed to your baby, as milk collected over a long period of time can become contaminated.
Easy to Sterilize
The shells and backing cushions can be sterilized with any Philips AVENT steam sterilizer or by boiling. Comfort breast shells should not be worn for more than 40 minutes at a time due to a risk of excess pressure on milk ducts.

I purchased these catchers after purchasing the Elvie catch. The Elvie catch provided me tremendous relief - I decided to purchase a second set of catchers to have for when they were being washed and dried. In my search for a second set of catchers I wanted something a little lower cost and was looking for catchers that could possible remedy two things I don’t love about the Elvies. First, I wanted catchers that had a little more room (the cups on the levies are a little more shallow so if you have anything other than a short nipple it will graze the plastic cup) and second, I do find that because there isn’t any ventilation there can be a bit of a musty smell. While Im sure this isn't avoidable fully these catchers come pretty darn close! I appreciate that Phillips provides a vented and non vented option! While some note that these cups aren't very discreet I find them to be as discreet as possible given the benefit of the shape/room they provide for the nipple/breast.

Ordered these after I had my daughter. I am not a huge fan. Yes they do their job, BUT they will deform your nipple after wearing, plus they are not the most comfortable.

It’s definitely not discrete but it does work well. I purchased to use overnight however you need to wear a bra or tight fitting shirt to hold them. It hold about 1-2 oz of letdown.

This product saved my nipples from the soreness and cracking from nursing. The ventilated shells are great for during the day and the non-ventilated ones for sleeping (to prevent milk leakage while sleeping). The design allows for air flow and prevents chafing and also allows any ointments to absorb into the nipple, not a nursing pad or bra. These must be worn with a bra, but so worth it. The shells also have a little integrated spout at the bottom which makes it easy to put any collected milk into a bottle or storage bag. Don't hesitate to get these if you're nursing and need a solution for sore/cracked nipples. I wish I had bought them sooner!!

I've had sore nipples and excessive letdown leaking from the minute baby was born, it seems like, and these have been so helpful in dealing with both of those issues.I agree with everyone else: you CANNOT possibly wear these out of the house and hope no one will notice, but for around the house, they're great at what they do! I will second the opinion, too, that these should not be worn for more than 45 mins to an hour, because they do put uncomfortable pressure on the breast, and I did develop a minor plugged duct after forgetting and leaving the vented ones on for a 3 hour nap. While I was able to easily clear the plug, it's easy to avoid if you just remove these within an hour. I'm a 36DD with, apparently, longer nipples, and these work great for me. My nipples get a chance to breathe and heal, and I'm able to save letdown milk!PLEASE NOTE though that since buying these, I also recently switched to wool reusable breast pads (LANAcare, Ekstra style, Medium size overnight and Small size for the day) instead of using the cotton reusable or disposable breast pads I had been using, and I really noticed a HUGE difference in my nipples once I switched to wool. The wool pads contain lanolin, so they soothe the nipple, and because they're not holding the moisture in with plastic (and because wool wicks away moisture so well) it's incredibly healing for the nipples.Using both wool pads AND these breast shells have almost completely cleared up my nipple soreness issue. If you're struggling with clothing or pads feeling painful on your nipples, it's really worth the investment to try the LANAcare wool pads. Plus, the wool is antibacterial, so you only need to wash them every 2-3 weeks! Amazing!

UPDATE:Let me save you some money, time and laundry. DO NOT BUY IT, I’ve bought different bras and I get soaked on breaksmilk every time, my son also gets soaked so I’ve had to buy more blankets for him just in case I get him covered, these shells are useless. They leak all the timeOriginal post:With my 1st I ordered some off brand shells that worked better than these ones. I would give 0 stars if I could. Here are the reasons:-It’s not as easy to put together as the off brand shell I mentioned before, my mom has a hard time.-Once I pulled it up and it opened from the bottom spilling over myself.- It gets full so fast so you need to empty it more often and if it gets full is hard to remove without the milk coming out from the nipple hole.- Water gets stuck on the sides of one part of the shell so it doesn’t dry as quick.-Once on you can tell you are wearing a shell as they are small and bumpy instead of following the natural shape of a breast.They are more expensive than others in the market so I don’t recommend buying these ones since you could get them cheaper and better elsewhere

This product came in super handy during the overnight period with my newborn, since he would normally sleep 3-4 hours uninterrupted. Instead of waking up with a wet shirt and sheets due to leaking, this has caught all that letdown and allowed me to use the milk in his bath instead! Plus, it’s really comfortable to wear so you actually forget you’ve been wearing them.

El producto es bueno, almacena muy bien la leche asi que no mojaras tu ropa y te proteje de lastimarte con la ropa el pezon, pero es muy rigido y no es tan comodo de llevar, solo lo recomiendo para estar en tu casa por la copita es pequeña y te deforma el busto

I actually bought it after reading tones of reviews. But trust me the product is not worth buying. One can’t be glued to this all the time when breast feeding. I have silicone Breast pump and manual breast pump which serve entire purpose. This is really not the best item to buy for milk saving.
