I don't lock it so I can't tell you how well it locks but this thing has become like a coteacher to me. My students look at the prizes inside and become very motivated to get their tasks done for the day. It is very easy to use, very lightweight, and just looks cool! It stays on my desk so it hasn't been dropped yet. I'll update in a few months to see how well it lasted.

This thing is little! It’s cute! The hinge sticks a little bit so it doesn’t want to close super easy, but it's thin plastic. The quality is fine for the price. I would have loved a significantly larger size of the same box though.

Bought these to store kids favorite rocks and shells they collect on our adventures. Kids were happy with them and love the clear treasure chest look over their old square plastic case. Key and lock are the useless type, but it does technically "lock" but don't count on it to keep anyone slightly determined out. I didn't buy it for that so if you just want it to lock to help keep it more secure maybe while moving or keep a small kid out then should be fine.

Value for the price is good. I was looking for an idea for a Christmas present to hold a gift card. The jewels added a nice touch plus I bought several little things to fill out the chest e.g. a small geode, small sharks tooth - things like that. In other words, the chest magnifies a plain vanilla gift card which by themselves are not very exciting to open on Christmas morning. The recipient loved it.

The chest is very small, and barely large enough to fit a trinket. We wanted to use the chest with a combinaton lock for teams to releaase a prize, but it was not large enough to really fit anything. Not sure really what you could usre this for, other than decor. It definitely is not large enough to hold items.
