Based on other reviews I did not use the metal piece. I am extra careful with the plastic. I try to pull gently. Theres no full metal housing option for this type of engine. Plastic seems like its barely strong enough. You're stuck with this if you have this motor. Be sure to mix in 2-stroke motor oil with the gasoline or the engine will feel sticky when pull starting

Item appeared nice . After install, I was able to pull start the motor about five times without an issue. Then, it happened. I shut the mini chopper off and pulled it into the garage, in order to adjust the brakes. I took it back outside and gave the cord a pull. There was no resistance. I thought that I had lost compression. I took the pull cover off and at first, it all looked good. I spun the claw around and noticed the shaft was not moving. With a set of pliers I was able to move the shaft and to my relief, I still had compression. I tried to remove the claw, but had no luck. I couldn't spin it off or pry it off. I resorted to cutting it off. Afterwards, I noticed that there were no more threads left. Long story short, cheaply made out of cast aluminium. It didn't take long to strip the threads.

It was exactly as described in the ad on here and bolted right on with no problem! Feels sturdy enough. I've used it at least 20 times since yesterday and still holding strong. Thanks for gettin me out scooting again!!

Its my fault for not knowing the size but it matters when ordering but i thought they all were a basic size but its made strong and worth the money, i kept it nstead of returning it in hopes I will use it down the road thats should tell you everything im keeping it .

This starter fit the application very well, in fact I have ordered several as a extra if ever needed. This was used on a 49cc motorized gas standup scooter. Great deal and installation was easy, it even comes with a new starter paw for the inside.
