Your cart is empty. The 6 Amp Hand Planer provides smooth cutting in hard materials. This planer has a dual-side dust extractor that allows the flexibility to place the dust extraction on either side of the tool to keep the work area clean. The overmold depth knob offers 10 positive steps which allow for better planer control and multiple depth control settings, along with 3 chamfering grooves for options on edge chamfering. An 11.5-inch cast aluminum shoe provides added control and better finish quality. Plus, the 5/64-inch depth-of-cut of the hand planner for woodworking removes excess material in less time.

I used it to plane pressure-treated 5/4 x 3-1/2 lumber, it works very well. The depth adjustment is easy to set, the tool is easy to handle, and leaves a smooth finish. Overall a good tool.

I had several interior doors that were binding-up in spots, and decided it was finally time to do something about them.. Ordered this, and tackled them right away.. The planer worked flawlessly. There is a bit of a learning curve, but it's more technique than anything.. Watching a couple of youtube videos will help.. As well, you can adjust it to take off such a small amount of wood per pass, it's pretty hard to make a big mistake.. Firm pressure on the front plate at the beginning of the cut, and more pressure on the rear plate as you're finishing the cutting pass.. And as you build your technique, you can easily adjust the cutting depth to take a little more material off per pass..The included metal guide was very helpful in keeping everything in alignment..I didn't use the dust bag, but did appreciate the dual exhaust ports.. I would not buy one of these without that feature. The bottom-line is, I don't think I would have been any happier with a planer costing 2x-3x as much. I do wish it came with a tool bag (only the cardboard box), but otherwise, this is a fantastic planer, and a bargain at the price.. Very pleased with it..

Hard to beat this planer if you simply need one for occasional use planing doors, etc. Lacks edge guide which is a big help when planing doors and has no chip deflector / collection bag but gets the job done. Got into a staple on my first door and had to flip blades but simple to do and included wrench worked ok.

I really love this thing. It’s a real time saver and works great. I wish that I would have bought one years ago.

I had 3 doors that needed to replaced. All of them needed to be planed in order to fit better. I really didn't want to spend $100-$200 dollars for a planer, so I bought an inexpensive portable Ryobi door trimmer at Home Depot ($20) which was a disaster. Next I rented a Milwaukee planer for a day ($25). Worked OK, but had issues. A few days later during some humid weather, two of the doors started to stick. By now, you have probably figured out I don't do carpentry for a living. So my next step was to look for a low cost alternative to the big brand name planers and came across this Porter-Cable. How bad could it be? After reading some positive reviews I ordered it. THIS IS NOT A CHEAP PLANER ALTERNATIVE. It was just as heavy and well built as the Milwaukee and worked better. The adjustments were easier, worked better, and it took me fewer passes. Surfaces were baby smooth. The planer guide helped keep the planner at right angles. Don't know anything about reliability, but for now I can highly recommend this planer.

No complaints. Worked great for planing overly crowned floor joists. Sure it was new but it left a very clean edge. Could see this being used on finished edges of doors etc. Better pricing than Makita.

Not top line by any means but for the $ I am happy with the purchase. Wish I would have bought a 4" planer, but I didn't.

Lots of power, good cord length and quality. Overall, a workhorse. I've used it on raw lumber and it barely slows down as it throws shards of wood. Very good product. Happy with this one.

The performance is really up to my needs. I used the tool mostly on soft wood with the chip collector connected to a ShopVac for extensive uses: I made the adapter myself. For smaller jobs, the bag fills up quickly but the zipper is of good quality and should last a while. I also own a sander from Porter-Cable and it still works impeccably after more than 15 years.

My first disappointment was when I discovered that there is no bag/hard box to store the tool in.Also, there is no second pair of the blades - 1 pair is delivered and it is already mounted in the tool. When I read the description on amazon i realised that there was no statement of the bag nor of the spare pair of blades - my mistake - I have assumed that that would be part of the product and I was wrong. The printed manual is of no help on how to use it, and no links to the you tube video. 1 star less for that.Eventually, after some experimentation I used the tool and it worked well. For the quality and features this is very good price.I will not return it.
