This steel shaft adapter is used to convert a crankshaft from 3/4" to 1" shaft
The adapter is approximately 2.3 inches long and includes the step key needed to go from the 1/4 in key way to the 3/16 key way. This allows you to use your old clutch or pulley on a new engine
You may need to use a small hammer to gently tap it in to place. It is intended to be a tight fit! If it is not tight it will not last. The wider portion of the key sits in the adapter

It slid over the 3/4-inch shaft with hand pressure only. Good snug fit. The key fit snugly in the shaft groove and the 1-inch sheave fit nicely over the key. No filing or trimming necessary. Well machined.

I replaced a B&S engine with a Honda on a wood chipper. This was perfect for adapting from the old 1†shaft to the new 3/4â€. Save me many hours of machining work. The included stepped key was an exact fit. Great product!

I bought this to fit my MTD chipper flywheel, which is made for a 1†shaft. My old engine died and I repowered with one that has a 3/4 shaft. I tested it out for about 30 minutes of light use. The next time I tried to use it, the key sheared off after about 5 minutes. I pulled the flywheel off and it was a mess inside. I bought a different brand and it works perfect. If you have a heavier application, buy a heavier sleeve and a key that actually sits deep into the 3/4 shaft to prevent this. I was fortunate that the new engine was not damaged nor the shaft bent. Could have been a lot worse.
