This is my first planer and i wasn't expecting it to be perfect, just work and it does that. I actually wanted to be able to work the little imperfections out on so i understood how they work and how to fix them, so i was looking for something inexpensive and i am pleasantly surprised. The cons first. Zero quality control. I did get a used one and it came with one of the knobs wedged into an incorrectly welded, threaded dowl thet needed to be removed, but could not be and without it you cannot adjust the heights on the thicknesser. Someone appears to have attempted to fix it but had been unsuccesful and likely returned it. Since they did the hard part, i figured I'd give it a try and was fortunetly able to fix the problem, so i kept it, but this issue was definetly a quality issue problem from the factory, so i tore it apart to ensure everything was connecetd as it should be. Other than some plastic shavings that were never cleaned from the cover, everything looked good. I plan to add a longer piece of wood on the bottom tray to make it longer which will take away fom its depth, but the wood drops and gouges at the end otherwise and i dont think this particular issue is limited to onky this unit. No instructions included, but i wasnt thinking they were going to me much use going in, still nice to have.Pros. It is worth what i paid for it and i am very pleased. I wasn't looking at a combo unit, but the price was right and i found i love the size and capability enough that when it dies, i will look for an upgraded combo from a reputable brand. For now this is perfect for my needs.

I am building a screened in porch for my wife and needed to plane a finish I had made on a sawmill. After borrowing a friend's much heavier planer and wrestling with it for a couple hours, I decided to buy my own. I've cut about 1200 feet of boards with this unit and it still cuts as well as my friend, if not better. The measurements are precise. This is a quality planer that looks like it will last a long time.
