When a storm knocks out power at your house and you’ve already used up all the power from your portable battery bank to charge your cell phone, recharging your cell phone from the sun’s rays may be your only alternative until power is restored to your home and this product will definitely do the job (assuming the storm has passed and the sun is shining again).Or you’re going to lay on the sunny beach and you want to keep your cell phone charged while you watch YouTube videos or FaceTime with someone, this will do the job.I ran some performance tests on the solar panels on the shortest day of the year (Winter solstice) when the suns’ position at noon is at the lowest point above the horizon compared to any other day of the year. At 10:00AM, when the available sunlight wasn’t optimal like it would be at noon, I connected the USB cable from the solar panel to a 5 Ohm power resistor load and measured the voltage at the resistor load and the meter read 4.7321 Volts. That is slightly lower than the USB voltage range tolerance standard of 4.75 to 5.25 Volts. Calculated current thru the 5 Ohm load is 0.946 Amp (946 mA) which calculates to 4.48 Watts (slightly less than one-third of the advertised power output under optimum conditions of a clear sky, noonday sun, in the summer time.)I then ran a test charging my iPhone 15 Pro for one hour between 12:35 PM and 1:35 PM to see how much the battery level increases in one hour of sunlight starting out at 21% charge on the iPhone 15 Pro. After one hour, the level had increased to 57% (36% difference). What is a nice addition to the panel is the pocket on the back with a Velcro closure can hold your cell phone or the charging cable – something other portable solar charging panels don’t have. The overall construction seems durable but keep in mind, all solar panels without a rigid metal frame are subject to damage from bending, applying pressure to the surface such as sitting on the panel, or sharp objects striking the surface.I recommend this panel!

It’s impressive to witness the advancement of solar technology, and the Powkey 15W Portable Solar Panel Charger really stands out as a practical solution in this new era of renewable energy. I acquired this charger not for recreational gadgets or small electronics but to enhance my family’s emergency preparedness. In a crisis, ensuring we have reliable power for essentials like lights and communication devices is critical, and this solar panel offers a simple yet effective way to stay powered up when needed.Despite its compact size, this 15W solar panel delivers a surprising amount of power. While it won’t charge an iPhone fully in one go, it does an excellent job of charging up a portable power bank. Once the battery pack is topped off, it can then be used to power phones or other essential devices. For me, this is the ideal setup—having a couple of fully charged battery packs in my emergency kit, ready to keep lights on or a phone charged for critical communication. What really impressed me about this solar panel is its build quality. It’s housed in a rugged, weather-resistant material that makes it perfect for use in the outdoors. I’ve taken it with me on hikes, jobs sites, and even just out in the yard, and it’s held up through it all. Even when dropped or bumped, it continued working without missing a beat. The durability is a key selling point, as I’m confident that it will hold up in rough conditions. For its size, the portability of this charger is also a huge plus. It folds up neatly and fits easily into a backpack or emergency kit, so I can always have it on hand without it taking up too much space. The fact that it has both USB-A and USB-C outputs makes it versatile, allowing it to charge a wide range of devices. Whether you need to charge a phone, tablet, or battery pack, this solar charger can handle it.Though I initially picked up this solar panel with emergency preparedness in mind, I’ve found it to be a useful tool for outdoor activities as well. If you’re out on a hike or at the beach and need to keep your devices powered, this solar panel can provide the necessary energy without the hassle of finding an outlet. Its efficiency and ease of use make it an excellent addition to any camping gear or survival kit.The Powkey 15W Portable Solar Panel Charger is a reliable, durable, and compact option for keeping devices charged in various situations. Whether you’re using it to power emergency equipment or as a backup charger during outdoor adventures, it performs well and offers great value for its size. If you’re looking for a rugged, portable solar charger to keep your devices powered up when needed, this product is a solid choice.

I got this to go in my go bag. I love it! It's compact, lightweight and effective. It came with two small carabiner clips that made it easy to attach to my backpack. As soon as I opened it in the sun, my phone started charging. I'm very impressed with this small, portable but powerful solar panel. It will be very helpful in an emergency. For those of you keeping score, here's the breakdown:Design- APracticality- AEffectiveness- AEase of Use- AValue- AOverall Grade: A

This is a handy little solar panel. I like the size of it, and it seems to be pretty good at charging small things. I wish it had loops on all four corners to give me options for hanging it, but that’s a minor gripe. I think there was a mistake when packaging mine, because I only had one mini carabiner included rather than two like advertised. It’s not a big deal though, since I’m sure I have a whole pile of them kicking around here somewhere. Either way, it’s a good solar panel.

This solar panel really works, so long as you have full sun and dont allow your phone to get too hot. This is an incredible way to fast charge your phone at any location. It really does achieve close to 15W of power, I tested mine at around 13W (with efficiency loss, thats expected), and its quick enough to quick charge an iphone in 40 min to around 80%, if you keep the phone cool (under the mat). This is a really handy charger if you find yourself in the back woods, beach, or poolside and dont want to hunt for an outlet. I use it at the office just because I have a huge window, and it doesn't take any electricity, but bought it for camping.Great zombie apocalypses item for the tool box, a must have for any survivalist.
