First of all there isn't much at all to "installing" it - you just slide it over the preset 4x4 and screw in the lag bolts then pick however you want to attach the mailbox. The mailbox mount lined up perfectly with a new mailbox and was SUPER EASY - to get everything lined up just right. Make sure if you're using this one to make your hole / concrete footprint is big enough to accommodate the square faux brick base. Its a little bit bigger than a regular mailbox post. I just got lucky that my hole was big enough that it sat pretty much right on the concrete I used. Also if getting the cross arm version with the upper lag bolts make sure you leave at least 45" of 4x4 above ground. That second set of bolts is higher than other posts I looked at at the store. I actually did my post and cut it compared to a neighbors without having ordering this one or seeing the directions. Not at all the fault of the product or the design, I just hadn't seen this one yet and I ordered it after the fact. I simply cut a 9" piece off the original 4x4 counter sunk 4 deck screws (one on each side) onto the original, then slid the mailbox over and was able to use all 8 lag bolts. Again the directions make it clear how much to leave, I just didn't know, so make sure you leave enough above ground so you can do it. Your 4x4 should be about 69" (24" in the hole 45" above) Hoping it holds up and stays looking as nice as it does now.

Yes it’s made out of plastic, but it very heavy duty plastic. I put a large mail box on it. I hope it last long bc I am in love with how my area came out! I have gotten so man compliments!!!

This was very easy to install and seems sturdy enough. My big grape was that the “stone“ part on the bottom looked completely plasticky and fake, like a children’s toy. My family was embarrassed to have it in front of our yard. However, I ordered from Amazon rust-oleum‘s stone texture paint in the color pebble, and sprayed that on the base. it made a world of difference! Close examination still makes it obvious that it’s plastic, but from a normal distance that just doesn’t seem as glaring. The whole mailbox setup you see here was found on Amazon- post, mailbox, custom mailbox decal, flag, and flag post. I'm happy with how all the different pieces look together. The post was first to arrive and I was pleased with how quickly I received it. I really appreciated the instructions provided with the post, there are instructions for both variations of the post and pictures are included. (I'm an instructional designer so my standards are high). The quality is good and looks much nicer than my old faithful mailbox of 19 years that was ready for retirement. I'm really happy with how it all looks.
