It's hard - very, very hard - to find ways to exercise at home (or anywhere) when you have a back and/or spinal injury. They really are an easy though effective way of helping work your core, which include: - latissimus dorsi (critical for stabilizing your whole body) - pelvic floor muscles (control bladder and bowels, for women these are big time birth muscles) - transversus abdominis (lower abs, keep your core muscles aligned) - quadratus lumborum (deep in lower back & support posture, seriously painful when they spasm) - multifidi (control spinal joints, typically associated with low back pain that will NOT go away if they start to atrophy) - internal and external obliques (help you bend and twist side to side) - rectus abdominis (your proverbial 'six pack', important in being able to breathe deeply) - rector spinae group (run along your spine and help with posture, and what usually are affected when your back is in a ton of pain and you're having muscle spasms) - diaphragm (controls breathing)Balance discs are one of the handful of at-home exercises my neurosurgeon and PT guy will let me do. They don't require any special training, or any other special equipment. YouTube, Google, etc. are chock full of tips and routines to incorporate into your daily workout with these disks. As soon as you inflate them you can start using these disks. Seems counterintuitive, but you really do want to start with the disks well-inflated. This makes them really stable, though I do recommend having a counter or chair back nearby to grab in case you bobble too much and need a hand to regain your balance. As you work your core muscles and they get stronger and standing on the disk is too easy, it's time to let some of the air out. The flatter the disk, the harder it is to balance. There are other ways to use beyond balancing on them on one leg. Use them to had difficulty to your pushups, sit on the disk and slowly bring your knees up to your chest (feet off floor!) while balancing on your bum, kneel on disk and rotate torso from side to side while keeping yourself balanced, modified sit-ups, planks, and so on. As far as exercise equipment goes, these are one of the better pieces your can get because you can incorporate them into many of your exercise and/or stretching routines, they are super easy to maintain (a quick rinse will get any hair or dirt off of them), a deflated disk and the small pump are perfect for travel. When I am done using each day, I can quickly stash one or both disks on a small shelf in our close. Aside from talking a walk, these disks are as close to no effort - no special equipment as you can get.

I am using these to improve ankle mobility and balance. I use both sides — one is smooth and one is spiky. I also use them on the smooth side as supports in sitting postures when sitting on the ground. Seem durable so far.

Used balance disc at physical therapy , so bought this and showed it to my therapist. He said they were good and just like the ones they use. Sturdy and can inflate to make it easier or deflate and make it more challenging. I gotta inflate mine more lol

Was so excited that these came faster than originally estimated. Both discs seemed to hold air for one day, until inserted the needle as directed to let a little air out of the disc to adjust the pressure. After that both discs have significant loss after sitting on them for 2-5 minutes (I weigh 130lbs). May be ok if you never use the pump or needle?

These stability cushions are gym quality, not lightweight, flimsy material.

Facile à utiliser. C'est exactement ce que j'avais besoin pour faire des exercices afin de renforcer mes chevilles qui ont tendances à se fouler lorsque je marche.

The product is colourful, sturdy and seems well-made. It came with a pump and two needles for inflating (came inflated). I am using it to teach my Irish Setters to balance on them and to help me with stacking positions for the show ring. My only complaint is that it took two months to arrive. :( I see the price has gone up considerably so I assume they were hoping I would cancel my order.
