I've used these for over 40 years. Ebony was a must have in art school and it's stood the test of time. Smooth,rich,ultra black graphite. Always delivers consistent quality. Makes rich shadows and blends like a dream .

I love this pencil. I'd say very dark grey. Comes out smooth. Easy to blend. Way easier than woodless. Stays on the paper better. Not overly messy. When you sharpen it with a good sharpener it handles it well and stays well and I almost enjoy it more than my Pentel mechanical pencil. If you have a lighter hand and great control on pulling lighter shading out for long stretches you wont need many more pencils than this one. I'd say this, a mid range, and an eraser, gel pen, brushes and tissue and you're good. I really like these. ArtAlli on yt, you can see more examples. There is a sheen when the paper is viewed on the side. The graphite is shiny, basically. Blends well with a qtip, brushes, tissue, and an old sock, and..... uggg..sometimes my finger... almost identical to my pilot 4b graphite.

I've been using these dark pencils for years, especially for my journaling. Other pencils are too pale for my liking. I love how sharp the tip gets and the richness of the dark color.

Agree with the "not quite jet black" that other reviewers point out...But 12 Prismacolor pencils for $4?! I'm in! I've bought 3 packs of these now so that I have plenty and can even share with my artist friends. No, they are not jet black; they are not "ebony" black, but the lead is strong, the lay down smooth and the results pleasing. I have had lead breakage, but that is when I use a sub par sharpener, so my bad!I am using them in a Figure Drawing class along with General's #555 Layout pencil (That one does have nice black markings) and I love the results I am getting. The Ebony pencil lays down smooth and is easy to blend with cloth or stump, also easy to erase (as long as you are layering gently) Take your time with these and you can achieve some great results!I highly recommend these to any artist who wants to have good solid supply of a baseline drawing pencil.

It's not better than Uni Mitsubishi pencil, but this is Quite good enough. And it's not Jet black what company claims for it.

Ces crayons sont très agréables grâce à leur mine "smooth" sur tout types de papiers qu'ils soient à grain ou lisses de type Bristol.. j'en suis très content et je les recommandes que l'on soit amateur ou plus.. Love these! they are my new favourite medium to sketch with. I was worried about getting them as I thought the shipping would take its toll on them and they would just keep breaking when sharpening and was surprised that they don't. They are quite strong and awesome to draw with.

Los pedà porque los recomendaba Puño en uno de sus cursos. Son lápices blandos especiales. Para cualquier dibujante que se precie son imprescindibles. Una muy buena compra.
