Great for testing data cable. Plug Ethernet into this banjo, then plug other end into port. If other end has equipment plugged in (power or no power). Using continuity meter attach 1 lead to #1 of banjo, take other lead and 2-8, if meter does not register on any, there is an open.

This is a good little device for any telco tech. Rugged enough for work in the field. I use it for toning pairs, testing specific pairs and connect my butt set to talk on the line.

The cords sent from the manufacturer were completely useless. They are wired completely wrong but other than that it works well

All banjos do the same thing. And they all get lost sooner or later. This one replaces my mainstay of 15 years which went missing. Nice little tool: compact, comes with good selection of short lead wires and adapters, gives you easy access to any 4 through 8 pin jack.

Works great at a fraction of the cost of the (branded) others. Why keep looking, this one will do the trick. Pays for itself in short order and eliminates the frustration factor of tinkering with multiple loose wires and alligator clips.
