ordered a 7 1/4, it's about half a size smaller than that. Many of the reviews are saying the same thing, which is kind of my own fault. But a great teaching point. The brim is super stiff, which is great if you're trying to ranger roll it. Doesn't take too much effort to shape it the way you want.And yes. It's compliant with the AR.

Definitely smaller than 7 1/4. Can barely get it on my head. Hope it stretches out. All my hats are 7 1/4 and fit comfortably.
