I noticed most people get these for dog crates, but I have similar ones for my ferret nation. The problem with other one is the bowl's metal edges crack on top and the 'ring' has rusted on the back where it attaches to the cage. I was really thrilled at the quality of these bowls. They are more substantial metal and easier to pull out of the ring. So far so good with the rust issue, because of the coating on the ring and mount I don't expect rusting.I work with animals and those that are looking to add to a crate, the 8 oz. size of these are good for a small breed dog, puppy, kitten, and cat as well. Definitely a very good value, shipped fast and arrived in perfect condition.

I have a 51 pound Pittie mix that does not like to sit in a crate unless it is her idea. I kept coming home to find her water spilled all over her crate pad. This little cup holds enough water for a couple hour trip and there is usually some left when I get home. It fastens to the crate in an extremely secure manner and there are no edges to scratch her. It is quite sturdy and easily attached. I suppose if she turned her full energy on pulling it off she could bend it but that hasn't happened.I actually bought this so I could transport my cat in the crate when we move 1300 miles from here. I haven't tried the food cup yet but it will no doubt work well for a cat.I'd highly recommend this to anyone with similar needs.

I honestly have liked the stainless steel hanging crate cups, until the 8 oz ones that I bought with the hangers(not these two with the clamp) started splitting for no reason through the rolled rim and down the side of the stainless bowl. This could be a serious issue with a possibility of my small dogs being injured by the very sharp edges if I continued to use the bowls. The ones that are defective are much less than a year old and are mostly used at dog shows, one or two weekends a month and the splits are not a result of abuse or rough treatment, so I have contacted petedge to see if they will honor the "lifetime warranty" as listed on thProSelect package/box. I have every confidence that they will stand behind their product and I will add an update with the outcome. I trust that they will continue the excellent customer service as they are a large source for all things dog.As far as the clamp attachment with this particular design, so far so good. My 7 pound Brussels Griffon has not yet figured out a way to get this one sideways like he could with just the hooks with the previous design. He likes to tip the bowl sideways from the ones with the hanging hooks and spill his water on the bedding in the front of his crate. Very funny, little man!! This design has so far prevented him from playing his tricks and having me do that much more dog laundry. So I am happy!Update to follow about the splits in the bowls purchased previously.

I bought two of these bowls and they work perfectly for my 122 pound Rottweiler and 98 pound Mastiff which is 7 months. These bowls hold a little over 4 cups of food. They do make a little bit of noise while they eat but they stay in place and neither one of them have knocked them out of place as far as spilling anything. If you have big dogs then these are perfect!Update 11/5/13: These bowls are still holding on strong.. My mastiff now obviously has gotten bigger, just turned 1 and weighs 152 pounds. He has bent his down a little a few times and from me bending it back up one of the sides where it attaches to the bracket had broken. We were going to zip tie it back in place but realized it was possible to just stick it under the bracket that attaches to the cage and tighten it down. Its been a little over a month or so and hasn't budged. Still very happy with this product. It has definitely taken a beating.

Horrible design execution. I bought this to replace a plastic version of one similar that I'd purchased 10 yrs ago at Petsmart. I liked this version because it should have been more durable than plastic, considering it's holder is made of steel and the bowl is made of stainless steel. My specific use is for a small portion of water to leave in my Maltese's kennel while I'm away. If you're unaware of a Maltese - they're very small and thus don't require much food or water. Considering, I purchased the 1.6lb cup in anticipating that I'd fill the bowl with far less than it is capable of accommodating. The bowl is great- easy to clean, lightweight and shallow enough to accommodate my dog's drinking needs. The cup holder, is another story- it's horribly designed. Not only does it NOT keep the cup level, it's also not capable of holding a weight of more than 1 cup of water (if even that much). ...which is grossly below the advertised volume amount.Sadly, I have to do what I was trying to avoid- discontinue use of the cup holder altogether and simply sit bowl inside kennel floor. I didn't need to purchase this product if I wanted to just have a bowl sitting on the floor of the kennel. Had I wanted that, I'd have reached inside my china cabinet. Ridiculous.

The stainless steel dish is fine and works as expected. The items to attach it to the side of the crate are flimsy. The nuts / screws stripped easily and the welds broke. I recommend these.

Poor design and construction. The bowls need to have two metal clips instead of one to keep them in place. I wouldn’t have purchased them if I known they were so poorly designed.

I use this bowl on a plastic sided containment pen. It mounts well and is sturdy enough that my growing 20 lb pup hasn't snapped it off yet despite standing on it with his front paws occasionally. I use the bowl for water and in 4 wks haven't had a flood yet. However a few times my pup's come close to popping it out of it's mounting ring while playing under it. Guess it's only a matter of time but so far so good. * Update Oct 6/15. *Now my pup is closer to 30 lbs the thin metal mounting bracket gets bent when he stands on it with his front feet.Others have experienced the mounting bracket bending, possibly through over tightening or perhaps like my experience their dog can put to much pressure on it.So the overly thin mounting bracket appears to be a weakness in this product. I solved it for now by using a large metal washer between the outer bracket and the wing nut but have a feeling as my pup grows I will need to buy a sturdier dish.Recommended.

My puppy broke the frame and it separated from the welding points, it is extremely weak even though it seams to be strong.I had to remove it from the crate for the safety of my puppy ( he is just 20 lb at this moment)
