This PL251 for smaller tubas fits the Jupiter JCB-582 (JTU-1110) like a glove. Literally the perfect fit.The case itself is great quality, with heavy duty zippers, rings and clasps. There are handles on three sides of the case which make it easy to move around. The backpack straps are solid, comfortable to wear when loaded, and tuck away when you don’t need them. It’s easy to load the tuba in and out as the case opens completely. Good sized pockets, with internal storage for smaller bits like your mouthpiece, valve oil, pencils, ect.Highly recommend this case, especially if you have the Jupiter horn or something similar in size (Miraphone 186 perhaps??)

Update: After nearly ten years of use going in and out of cars and nearly weekly backpack-style carrying, to and from the community band I’ve joined since writing the initial review, I’ve come to regard this care very highly and I strongly recommend Pro-Tec’s cases to anyone looking for a gig bag for their horn. It has held up very well and continues to impress me.Original review follows:I purchased this bag in order to carry my King 1241 tuba assembled, since two-piece cases are kind of a pain. It does that job, it is extremely roomy inside and the end is big enough to fit my tuba's 22-inch bell no problem. The bag has two good-sized pockets on the front to hold the various other things one needs to take with when packing a tuba, like the mouthpiece, valve oil, music folder, etc. In the larger of the two front pockets on the case, there was a carry strap designed to snap onto the D-rings on the bag for shoulder-carry, a luggage tag and a Protec mouthpiece pouch (which was a surprise, I didn't expect to get that with this item). Overall, I am satisfied with the value of this bag and its included accessories. The bag arrived in a very large cardboard shipping carton, which wasn't really a surprise as I knew this item would be large when I purchased it. It was well padded, using a good amount of kraft paper as packing material. The plastic wrapping on the bag itself had some tears where it looked like somebody had hooked it with their fingers at some point, probably during loading or during unpacking from the supplier. The bag inside was unblemished, however, and when fully opened it had a very distinct "new vinyl" smell to it. Condition on arrival was very good, the zippers all moved freely and the hook-and-loop on the handle strap is good quality. The backpack-type straps seem sturdy and they are very securely attached to the fabric of the body. Fake-leather reinforcements at crucial stress points look like they will prevent some of the most common rips and tears.Inside, there is about an inch of padding all around. This is sufficient to protect the horn from incidental bumps, and the foam feels substantial and resilient. The cloth inside is soft and lint-free, and shouldn't scratch mar the finish of a horn. Behind the accessory pockets on the inside front of the bag, though, there is a rougher wear patch panel, ostensibly to protect against the valve section of a front-action horn rubbing against it and wearing a hole. This might scratch lacquer or silver plate, so beware. I have a vintage horn and I'm not so worried about scratches, but still. The interior cloth is all black, so green and black stains from raw brass and silver-plated instruments, respectively, will not obviously not be as visible.Getting my tuba in and out of this bag proved to be an ordeal. The bell fits rather snugly in the front section, with less than a half inch of wiggle room side-to-side. Once inside, it fits well though, and zips shut without a problem. There's about a two-inch gap between the bottom bow and the bow section of the case when my tuba is resting bell-down on the bell padding of the case, which is impressive given the length of my horn when assembled. It is a loose fit when zipped shut, but overall still seemed very secure. The zippers are good quality and seem strong. Taking the tuba out was a challenge as well, due to the tight fit of the bell. This bag has rubberized feet for resting bell-down as well as in a lateral position. With a tuba in the bag that will rest bell-down on its own, the bag is stable in that position. The lateral resting position, however, is not stable. In a shelf or cubby, in the back of a rental truck on the way to a band contest, or packed into the luggage area of a bus, the feet will allow the tuba to be rested on its side without having to worry about damaging it. In the middle of the floor, the tuba will roll to one side or the other when released while resting laterally on the rubberized feet. The case's padding ensures that it won't damage the instrument, but that is still rather disappointing. I also found that the best storage position for the unloaded case is bell-down. It will stand up on its own like this, and it takes up less space in the closet that way.The back straps seem strong and are comfortable enough for walking a short distance with the tuba. They are not particularly wide. I have a backpack designed for laptop computers that has much wider straps. Also, since it's a generic case and not specifically fitted to the horn, it will move around a bit inside the bag while I move, which doesn't feel particularly stable. Using a strap or bungee cords to cinch the bag around the instrument might help with stability while carried on the back. Also, the included shoulder strap is sturdy and more than sufficient to carry the weight of a tuba, but it has no padding and is not comfortable for long periods of wear.Overall, this bag has its problems, but most of those stem from it being a generic bag, rather than something custom-tailored to my instrument. If I wanted to go that route, I would easily spend 2 to 3 times as much. If I transported my tuba more often than once a year (for TubaChristmas) I would probably go the custom route for a bag or lug around the two-piece hard case, but as it is, this generic bag works well for my purposes. The assembled horn fits inside the bag, and the bag will protect the tuba from incidental damage in my car and while walking to and from the event location.

Over the years I've had Altieri and Reunion Blues (USA) gig bags. This was the first time I ordered a Protec for one of my horns. I recently acquired a Besson 995 CC tuba with a 19" bell. This bag says for bells up to 18.5". I took a chance and my tuba fits snuggly and securely in the bag, even with the foam block under the bottom bow. The materials seem to be high quality as is the construction. Only time will tell how well it holds up. The bag quality for this price is outstanding. I would certainly purchase this again.Note: The description of this bag is "smaller (or on some sites 3/4 size) tuba gig bag." I'm not sure why they are putting that label on this bag. This bag absolutely fits large 4/4 tubas like the Besson 995, Nirschl 4/4, Miraphone 1291/1292. This bag seems like it would be big for a typical 3/4 size instrument like a Cerveny piggy or Yamaha 621.

Overall this is a good case, for a great price! I needed a new case for my Miraphone 1291, It is a monster of a horn. This case was basically a steal from what I would have gotten. The pros about this case is that it's built from strong materials, the zippers are extremely durable and I guess the main thing is that I feel like my instrument is protected in it. The stitches don't rip even if I pull as hard as I can, the straps are padded and feel very nice on my shoulders. The cons are that this case is huge, my Miraphone is a freaking mammoth and this case still somehow swallows it, a little too much. I'm going to put in more foam padding on the bottom and sides. THE ZIPPERS, while very strong, they are slippery, meaning if you close the case where both of the zippers are on the bottom, the horn is going to FALL through the bottom. So just keep them on the top and you'll be fine. It's also extremely difficult to get the horn in the case, for some reason it opens from the bottom and side, and not the top and side. Because of this, it takes about a minute to wiggle the bell in the case.TL:DR It's large, have a larger horn, zip from down to up.

This product is amazing. It makes transportation a lot easier compared to cases. The bag comes with pouches on the side, making it super convenient to carry mouthpieces, portable music stands, and music folders without needing a separate bag. The bag also comes with a mouthpiece pouch, a name tag, and a spare strap. It offers great protection for my King 2341.The shipping was great too; the bag came clean, well-wrapped, and with no imperfections. If you're a tuba player, I would definitely recommend getting this product. :)

This gig bag uses an "envelope" design, meaning that there is only a single horizontal zipper on the top. I'm sure that this makes it easier to manufacture, however it makes using the bag a very frustrating experience. It took me all of 3 minutes to decide to return (even though the tuba fits fine once you can wrestle it into the bag)
