I've had plenty of cats and kittens on Purina Pro Plan Liveclear dry food. I've noticed that the adults and kittens love the kitten food more than the adult but it's also higher in calories and fats so adult cats really shouldn't be eating kitten food for an extended length of time unless your adult female is pregnant and/or nursing or if your veterinarian advises you to do so. Purina has many different dry food options including many different Purina Pro Plan sub-types and many of them are not of the same quality as others. Purina Pro Plan LiveClear is their highest grade dry good available with a veterinarian's prescription. It IS also the most expensive but because it's the only dry food I've ever found that ALL of my cats like, I'm willing to pay a little extra so that I don't have to get numerous different types of food for different cats. The LiveClear's claim to lower your cat's allergens is fairly new. I started seeing it within the last few years or so. Before that, they had the same food but it didn't have that claim. I've been using this food for 8 years and haven't ever had a cat that didn't like it. As far as the lower allergen claim goes, I don't notice a difference. It's hard to tell since my boyfriend has a pollen and grass allergy as well as a cat allergy so I don't know if we'd notice if there was a difference in the amount of allergens released in their saliva and dander. This Particular line of Purina's comes in a variety of flavor options. For the most part I get them the Chicken and Rice but I've also tried the Salmon and they seemed to be just as happy. I DID notice a difference in the size of the round pieces of dry food when comparing the chicken and salmon. The Chicken and Rice Adult dry food has round thicker pieces and the salmon flavor is round and almost flat. The size and weight of the bags are the same but the individual pieces are slightly different. I suppose it's possible that Purina is in the process of changing the size of all of the LiveClear food pieces and one of the bags I got was with their new size and the other bag was with their previous size. Both bags were fresh. If your cat has health problems that cause him/her to need dry food that s geared towards Kidney problems, urinary tract, sensitive stomach, etc. Purina Pro Plan also makes dry food for such health issues and they also have prescription food for specific health issues which you can ask your Veterinarian about.

This cat food really works! It's the only stuff we buy and I'll never switch it up. Not only did it make it possible for our family to have 1 cat (our son is ALLERGIC to them..like breaks out in hives super allergic) but we have 3!! It's helped with shedding, and dander, and that "cat smell" that multi-cat homes sometimes have. Our friends even comment on how soft and fluffy our cats feel and how nice their coats are. Many of them have made the switch too! And my son DOESN'T NEED ALLERGY MEDICINE! He can touch and snuggle and even SLEEP with our kitties without having any symptoms. Definitely recommend!

I started feeding this to my cats 1 month before I moved in with my now husband who has a mild cat allergy. He loves our kitties so much, but he couldn’t hold or pet them without getting itchy. That’s no longer a problem!I started by feeding each cat 1/4 of a cup daily through their auto feeders and cut back to 1/8 of a cup after a few months. It has high protein for a dry food, which is great, but use it as a supplement purely for the allergen reduction benefits. Their diet primarily consists of wet food so they stay properly hydrated. If this is the only thing you’re feeding your cats, please mix with water so they don’t get dehydrated.It took about a month to see any allergy benefits in our case, so don’t expect instant results. The results could vary depending on the cat and the severity of the person’s allergy.As far as the taste, my cats love it a little too much. I use individual morsels as treats too.It’s a bit pricey, but it works! You can offset the cost by determining the minimum amount you need to feed them in conjunction with their regular diet to see benefits.

Update after 18 months:This food definitely reduces the allergic reaction my wife and son have to our cat. She is our second cat, so it is unlikely to be a people change.Original review: Our cat likes it. My wife and son have been sneezing less, so it does seem to be working as advertised. High cost is overlooked because Happy wife is a happy life applies here.

Severe asthma, coughing, red itchy eyes, sneezing... ALL GONE.... In one week on using this miracle cat food!! Also CAT LOVES IT... We were considering rehoming our cat, OMG, nothing would help, the cleaning, HEPA filters, allergy pills, all useless, but this cat food is a real miracle! A family member is allergic to cats, but did not want to get rid of the cats. I bought this product and swapped my cats biscuits to this one, a week later, I've noticed a dramatic improvement in their sniffling/sneezing. I was avoiding placebo effect, and told them, we are extremely shocked how much it worked.It might not work for everyone but it definitely 100% works for them. However, they're still get allergy attacks here and there but not as much. Definitely worth the shot!And my cats are quite happy with it! win win overall!
