My cat had kidney stones , he wouldn’t eat the science diet kidney stone canned cat food. I tried the purina , he liked it. It’s less expensive too.

My 3-year-old male cat almost died. He had a complete blockage in his urethra four months ago due to struvite crystals from cheap dry cat food. It cost just shy of $3k to treat. He’s quite picky about what he eats; he’ll only eat chicken and seafood flavors, and the chicken flavors are hit or miss, and he tires of eating the same thing consistently. (So would I!) He didn’t care for the prescription cat foods (RC or Purina) and went on a seriously pouty hunger strike. I talked to his vet, and they suggested the Purina ProPlus for Urinary Health, as it was better than what he’d been eating before, and to make sure he gets some of the wet cans as well for the added water consumption. We also added a pet fountain. But wouldn’t you know, my local stores only carry the beef and liver flavor and he turned his nose up, in true cat fashion. I went searching online for a seafood flavor and bought this case of salmon flavor. He totally approves! He always has dry food available, but when I open a can, he always comes running. He is so impatient that he tries to eat it as I’m putting it in his dish. He loves it, and he’s doing so much better!

We were appalled to see blood in our male cat’s urine and immediately contacted his vet. She referred us to a nearby veterinary hospital for testing the same day. The results showed kidney issues; the recommendation was a change in diet to either of two canned wet foods . We attempted both, to gradually change over from the food he so gluttonously ate. He would not eat. The smell appeared to be abhorrent to him, as he would curl his lip and back away from the dish, scratching at the floor nearby in an apparent attempt to bury it. On line, we discovered this product, the Purina Pro line specifically for urinary issues. Because the cat does not readily drink much water, we divide his food ito three meals daily, each mixed with water to provide measurable hydration. We are now several months into this regimen, and have a sleek and shiny tuxedo cat who happily reminds us of every feeding time on the schedule in the robust voice of his people!

I purchased this particular food because I have a cat who had PU (Perineal Urethrostomy) surgery at 2-years-old and is on very expensive prescription cat food for the rest of his life. He is forbidden from eating any normal food including treats. Because of that, I get all three of my cats both wet and dry prescription food. The wet is something they all share and in such a small amount, I thought it would be fine. When I told my vet I was using this food instead of the wet prescription, they had a fit, so I had to stop.BUT, as far as this product for other cats, I'll say that while mine were eating it, they were very happy. So if you are not to the 'prescription phase' of your cat care yet and just want something for their urinary support, your can't would likely love this food.

My male cat has had serious urinary blockage problems & has been on very expensive dry & wet food for urinary issues for 15 years . He ate it ; but didn’t love it & so much was wasted. I tried this brand fish flavor & he can’t get enough, it’s gone before I can put it out. I give him one 3 Oz Can a day & it’s not enough. Glad I discovered it.

My cat can only eat the urinary care cat food or develops cystitis. She tolerates it well and it is cheaper than a vet prescription food.

I was worried that because it’s a healthier food option, they might be finicky. I’ve tried other urinary tract health food for them before and they’ve turned up their noses at it. Not this food! They lick their bowls clean within half hour of getting it. The cans are smaller than usual tins, but it’s worth it if they eat the whole thing, unlike their other food. No waste, healthy food!
