I've been searching for 2 or 3 years for the correct sized doorknocker to replace the old one. This one is the right size... however, the bottom hole to screw in the door is off -- there is a 1/8" difference. The screw is in the door but not attached. I hope it doesn't fall out. I may "glue" it with clear nail polish. The top screw and peephole keep the doorknocker attached to the door.

Since there are 3 holes to drill through your door-- one of which is for the peep-hole-- you have to make absolutely sure you line things up *perfectly* before drilling. Even doing that, I had to keep going back to the hold for the peephole and widening it, moving it over slightly, etc. In the end, I had some extra space around the peephole, so I filled it with caulk on both sides, then used a large washer on both the inside and the out to make sure it was nice and air-tight. The caulk and washers are my attempt to prevent moisture from humidity from getting into the door. The outside washer isn't visible, but I used some caulk to glue it into place once I was sure everything would fit.I am a fan of how everything turned out. Home Depot sells plastic versions of the washers I used, but I decided in the end that I liked the look of the metal. The washers were less than $1 for two.

Hopefully the finish will last and not tarnish.

This was a replacement for a personalized knocker on our new home.Didn't fit as well as I hoped, but not the fault of the knocker. The original was off a bit, but I was able to fit it, and it looks good from the outside. Insides a little crooked, but like a said, not the fault of the knocker.
