I purchased a similar one to this for the same thing, connecting a Netapp drive shelf with the QSFP connection to a LSI SAS controller. The LSI controllers may have different connectors depending on if it's SAS 2 or SAS 3 so make sure you get the right on for that side (if I remember, the SFF-8088 is for a typical external SAS 2 controller). It works great.

If you feel like paying $40 for a 1 meter cable is a bit ridiculous, I'd generally agree. For these cables though, good luck finding it cheaper anywhere else. And let's face it, whatever you're connecting with this, you probably have far more than $40 invested into.I consider it decent value for the money. The cable seems to be well made, and I haven't had a problem out of it yet in months of use.

I’ve got a pair of these cables connecting my Netapp 4246 disk shelf to my LSI 9286-8E. I’ve got both cables connected to the top controller on the disk shelf and the RAID card detected the enclosure and disks inside the enclosure without any issues. They work great and cost half of what the eBay sellers are charging for the same cable.

They have you over a barrel as far as pricing goes for such a niche cable, but I've been using mine for 3 years so far without issue. Still, for something that likely cost them $10 to make they're charging way too much here.
