Your cart is empty.The Quinta Pentatonic Flute is a newly developed pentatonic flute made of cherry wood without a tone block. It has a slightly stronger tone than those with a tone block and a very light articulation. The interval and pentatonic flutes were specially developed for use by children, particularly in groups. The newly developed Quinta-Flute is light blowing, with very easy articulation and a clear transparent tone. With the newly designed labium and windway, no separate toneblock is needed. Made with cherry wood, with a range: d''-e''-g''-a''-b''-d'''-e'''. Accessories: wooden cleaning swab, cotton flute bag. All the Choroi flutes are characterized by a warm, light, flexible tone. Compared with traditional instruments, the Choroi flutes possess a tone that sounds more like a voice than an instrument. This unique tone quality leads to a corresponding style of play. A free outbreathing, rather than an active blowing, forms the foundation for the tone. The mouth and lip positions also contribute to the tone formation. The fingers gently touch the specially formed finger holes, which allow half-steps to be achieved naturally by half-covering the holes. All flutes are treated exclusively with linseed oil.

The flute I tried out belongs to our granddaughter. We bought it for her and paid for her tuition at a Waldorf school in Keaau, Hawaii, when she was in first or second grade. I'm an old guitar hack, but enjoy playing some different flutes. I have a fife, a recorder, a tin whistle, and a mini sax. The mini sax is very difficult to get it to play a note. This Choiroi pentatonic flute is as easy to play as the mini sax is hard. And, being pentatonic, you can't blow a bad note. You need to introduce yourself to the fingering position and familiarize with it. Right away you can play soft soothing music. These flutes are made of pear wood, and not cheap plastic. It comes with a carry bag and a cleaning/oiling rod and patch. Linseed oil is suggested to oil both inside and outside of the flute. Another thing that impressed me about this flute is that the people that make these in Sweden are all special needs folks with disabilities. Choroi has made a factory and trained and given these fine people productive jobs. You can see the production of these in a YouTube video. This is the standard flute for Waldorf schools all over the world.
