Constructed of 14-ga., 304-alloy stainless steel, the Radiant Fireback weighs in at about one-sixth the weight of a cast-iron fireback. It’s easier to handle. Each fireback has a gentle curve applied to its back. This pre-stresses the fireback to minimize warping. Slotted support legs allow you to adjust it to three angles: 65°, 75°, and 90°. The legs are 1" high, 23/8" wide, and 11" long.

My wife's hates this item. My wife says that she can't see the back of the fireplace (which was charred black) and that she can no longer sit in front of the fireplace because it's too hot now.We all know that wife logic is the opposite of real-logic so therefore this item is perfect. It radiates the heat into the room for sure. We used to sit about 12" from the flames of our wood burning fireplace and now we have to be about 4' farther away. The heat isn't intense but you can immediately feel a warm area several feet in front of the fireplace which was never there before. It certainly made the room warmer with 1/2 the wood.Looks wise it's not pretty. The metal turns to black within a day and there's no point in cleaning it. This item functions as intended but it's not meant to be pretty. If you can spend a few more $ you might prefer the cast iron fire backs that have images on them but keep in mind that cast iron is heavy and can crack some fireplace bottoms. The stainless steel on this item is only a few lbs, less than the weight of the wood we put in the fire place itself. It stands against the back and can be straight or tilted at an angle to bounce the heat down.If you're like us and have a pretty, non functional, fireplace that sucks all your heat in and throws it out the chimney you might benefit from this fireback. If you have the metal screen in front of the fireplace this device will make them too hot to touch.

The plate itself is heavy and did not warp but did discolor after the first use. We did not see a difference in heat output at all. The feet it comes with to hold it in place were very weak and flex easily. Had to be very cardigan installing as to not warp or flatten them. If I buy another fireback. I will most likely try cast iron.

Last year my chimney sweeper suggest getting a radiant, so after researching, felt this one would be best for us.I've had this for about two weeks now, it has made a difference. 0ur family room is warmer, I would say at least 25% warmer.I took one star off because the package did not come with directions in which what side should be facing the room. I had to look on the internet to find out.Easy set up.

When we had our annual chimney cleaning, the worker recommended we get a heat radiator for our chimney. I delayed putting in a review until the weather got cold enough for us to use it. It is sturdy and was easily installed. From the first use I could tell the difference as it increased the heat coming out of the fireplace further into the room. It was definitely a worthwhile purchase.

Nice and sturdy...fits good....haven't had a fire yet to feel effects of it...still summer in Arizona....will update in winter months..Yes. It does get cold in Arizona.

Be sure to measure HEIGHT of firebox. Was too tall for mine. Ordered smaller and LOVE it. Big improvement on heat radiance.

I could certainly tell a difference once this thing was installed. Not only does is push heat back out to your living area (significantly, too), it also reflects the flames nicely. I noticed a big increase in light output from the fireplace.
