Have had this in my 2016 Yukon with the 5.3 motor and 6 speed transmission for a month now. Works very well. Vehicle stays in V8 all the time with no other ill effects. I drive a lot of straight lines at 38 - 40mph which is when I would occasionally get the GMC shudder if I was slowing and speeding up often, but this completely eliminated it. I've not noticed any major change in fuel economy at this point, last I looked the average was down 0.1mpg if any. Would recommend this for sure! Easy to start using. Plugged it in to the port under the steering wheel, the lights flashed for 5 seconds or less, then good to go. Started the car and went for a drive, immediately worked. I considered the cheaper options here for $100 or so but decided it was worth another $100 to get the Range brand name and not goof with anything in my car.Just an update after 30 days of use: Still working very well, but I am noticing more of a full 1mpg fuel economy loss. Most of my day to day driving is around town, runs under 5 miles. I live 3 miles from work, so that definitely does not help, and dollars and cents wise is a very small impact, but wanted to update a larger economy loss than originally posted.

Instantly noticed the difference. All eight cylinders are now firing at all times. No more delayed power and sluggish takeoffs. I would like to have purchased the one that also disables that stupid auto stop system but it was too expensive. At this point, it's instinctive for me to push the disable button every time I start my truck anyway. I know two people with late model GMC and Chevy pickups who've had to replace their engines, at their own expense, because of that defective AFM junk. One of those is still paying for her truck and was put in a real bind when her engine died. I'm all for fuel economy and reducing my fuel costs but I'm not willing to trade fuel savings at the expense of having to purchase a new engine every few years.

Installed this on a 2009 Silverado 5.3L with 178,000 miles. No issues whatsoever. This works perfectly. Disabled the AFM and always runs in V8 mode. Nothing to configure at all; just plug and play. Some have mentioned that it drains the battery if left plugged in for extended periods of time. I haven't noticed anything like that, and sometimes I don't drive my truck for a week at a time. It's not my daily driver. I have yet to notice any battery issues. This has been installed for 3-1/2 months now and it hasn't caused any problems and my gas mileage hasn't really changed. Put about 1,500 miles on it since install.Overall I'd recommend it.

An FYI to anyone buying this product. Ive been pretty skeptical about plug and play DOD deactivators and I figured I would give this a try. When I got the product it had a straight foward easy install no issues. once I started driving the truck was full time v8, perfect. Now heres the thing i noticed. my gas milage, for the first day it went from 18 mpg average to like 16 or 15 which i was not happy about. I was going to return the product because I drive 100 miles a day and 15 mpg doesn't work. So I give it another chance the next day and now beyond that and I'm getting an average of 19 mpg so if you do but this give it a few days before making a decision on if you like it or not. Im pretty pleased with this product.

What a difference in how smooth the transmission and engine feel when at constant speed. This is the way GM should have made the cars and trucks

Bought this for my 2017 GMC Sierra Elevation. I have had this plugged into my truck for a month. The first week or so I unplugged it every time I exited the vehicle because I had read it might drain the battery. Now I just leave it plugged in. Honestly I think that for anyone claiming this killed their battery while sitting, it was probably just a coincidence. So far I have no complaints. It does what it is supposed to. Enables your V8 to run as a V8.The only downside is my gas mileage went down 3 or 4 miles per gallon(some claim theirs improves) but that’s in town driving not highway miles. But that really doesn’t bother me. You can turn off V4 mode by shifting into L5(on GM trucks anyway), but you have to remember to do that every time and you don’t have overdrive. Just plug this in a and forget it.I was able to get a good deal on a used one from Amazon. Package was messed up and the item itself had small scratches (hairline really). Not a big deal. It works so far, and it has a cool Red LED when it’s on.

Took a couple of weeks of using it but definitely get better gas mileage on our 2016 GMC Sierra. It has instant power, no more lagging. Would highly recommend!!

I can leave this plugged in without draining the battery while the vehicle sits. It stops the DOD/AFM from activating on a GMC 5.3L

It works as intended and was super easy to install. Just plug into your OBD port and you're good to go. The packaging could be better though.
