I have an older 3018 cnc router that came with a Woodpecker 0.9 GRBL board. I wanted to add the little offline touchscreen control to eliminate the need of tethering my laptop to run it. I’m happy to report that this unit was totally plug and play with my machine. The plugs all fit, even the power supply. I just needed to plug in my laptop to configure the axis directions with a serial program. This board added the port that I needed to connect the offline control. Works good, very happy!

This replaced my sainsmart 3018 controller which kept aborting randomly. this unit has performed flawlessly, makes my CNC fun again because works without issues.

How times have changed!! This controller is a complete CNC package on a small well designed board. Be aware!! This board is what is called unbuffered so plugging in or unplugging any part of the connections, especially the Motor should be done with the unit switched off and the power unplugged, after the power indicator lights have gone out! Otherwise, you may cause the board to fail, for good. The pwm output can be used to control motors if the settings are adjusted. (low rpm set to 0 and not 5) if using Candle and Grbl. Also watch current requirements and motor size if using a 3018, you will be running close to the circuit max specs and may need external controllers. Large stepping motors which need separate controllers do not match the outputs provided, and may need to be avoided, as the Arduino type boards are a direct plug in with large controllers.

After making a mistake that burned my controller. I ordered its replacement. The unit was an upgrade with the power on/off switch more accessible. Replacement was straight forward and cnc router was up and running.
