Product Description

Range Cycling Gear, tire dimensions

How to Read Tire Dimensions

Road/hybrid tires typically say something like 700x30, where the first number mean you need 700c replacement wheel. Mountain tires typically say something like 29x2.35, where the first number means you need a 29" replacement wheel. For both styles, the width of the tire is listed second.

How to Determine the Type of Brakes on Your Bicycle

Bicycle, rim brake, caliper

Caliper Rim Brakes

Rim brakes will be located near the top of the front fork and will be cable actuated. Caliper brakes are typically found on bike with road or hybrid style tires. All of our wheels are rim brake compatible.

Bicycle, cantilever brake, rim

Cantilever Rim Brakes

Similar to the caliper brakes, cantilever rim brakes are cable actuated. This brake system allows for a broader range of tire width clearance, so it's not uncommon to see them on mountain bikes too.

Bicycle, disc brake, rotor

Disc Brakes

Disc brakes have a rotor that attaches to the hub of the wheel, and a small caliper on the bottom left of the fork and will be cable or hydraulically actuated. This rotor will either have 6 bolts for attachment, or a CenterLock ring (our wheels are not CenterLock compatible). Not all of our wheels are disc brake compatible.

bicycle, frame, fork, dropout

Our Wheels are Only Compatible with Dropout Style Frames and Forks

Dropout style means the attachment point for the wheel has slotted notches to slide the wheel into place before clamping tightly with the quick release skewer or tightening the hub bolts and nuts. If your frame has holes instead, you will need a wheel compatible with thru-axles.

bicycle, axle, dimensions

Ensuring Correct Axle Dimensions

In order to make sure the hub is wide enough, remove your front and rear wheels and measure the distance inside the two dropouts. Your front should measure 100mm, and your rear could measure 120mm, 130mm, or 135mm. You will need this width when choosing the correct wheel for your bike.

cassette, freewheel, wheel

Rear Hub Type (Freewheel or Threaded)

Freehubs are on most modern bikes and they spin independently of the rest of the hub. The gear cluster (called a cassette) slides onto the splined surface, and locks in place. Threaded hubs are usually only found on older 5-, 6-, or 7-speed bikes, with the gear cluster threaded directly to the hub.

Not sure what the other reviewers were expecting, but I put this on a Raliegh (circa '99) that I have been upgrading since new. I had some really nice rims on there but my son borrowed my bike and taco'd the front rim. I replaced it with this one and it runs true, stops on a dime ('V'-brakes) and fits like a glove! No issues whatsoever.

got this for my son. Had a pro set it up with the sprokets and disk brake - works well at a very good price. It just took 1.5 to 2 months to get it shipped to us.

It's a MTB 26" front wheel, came in true, similar spoke tension throughout, carefully laced, aluminum rim, has the hub setup for a 6-bolt disc brake, easy swap to put my tire on, has the bead retention groove, came with a quick release skewer as well. Very nice wheel setup, and a direct swap onto my suspension fork. Brake rotor swapped right over as well, threads looked good, axle bearings feel smooth, had a rim strip pre-installed, valve hole for a Schrader valve, nothing weird, just straightforward good wheel.

I am super impressed with the quality of this mountain bike rim. The shimano 7speed cassette went on without issues . It even comes with the quick release skewer.

not all of the tines are under equal tension, so be sure to get that set before you get a tire on this and get it on a bike. It's easy enough to get your cassette on the rim, and the wheel got to me in great round, so there's not a lot to complain about.
