This part is cheap and it works great. I'm not a mechanic, and it doesn't take one to replace this. I have a 2012 Ford escape and I'm not trying to put too much money into it at this point, but I do need my liftgate to work. A shop quoted me over three hundred bucks, saying the part was over a hundred fifty and it'd be an hour's labor...okay, pal. Thank god for amazon and youtube. That's all you need.I'm telling you. It'll probably take a half hour to an hour and you're done. Be careful removing the three screws that release this part. They might strip if you use a drill. You might need to spray some p. B blaster or wd 40 on the screws, then try to get them loose with your hands first. Mine were star bits and i'm guessing most are.The only problem is the new part does not come with the screws, so don't lose yours or strip them out or you'll be going to a parts store for these or right back here. Oh and removing the back panel first is simple, just pry it out, it's merely locked in with tabs. Just look it up on YouTube, you'll be fine.1. Remove back panel -** I almost forgot! You'll have to manually pull the mechanism to release the latch so you can get to the screws! Probably one of the most important parts. You may need a zip tie or something to wrap or hook around it and pull it up. Long needle nose pliers might work. I've had a zip tie around it for a long time and have been opening my liftgate window and using it that way....2. Release the wiring from existing liftgate latch - 20 seconds3. Unscrew latch from underneath. Could do this second actually. This could take a bit depending on your strength and how stubborn the screws are.4. Install new latch and put it all back5. Look it up first, and don't take my word as gospel. I might be forgetting something. It'll help you figure out the step I almost glossed over in releasing the latch manuallyGood luck!

the electrical plug was maybe a little tighter that it should have been, but it did plug in and it works fine, actually looks better built than the one it is replacing.

Easy to install on my 2010 Ford Escape. Lift gate opened immediately after installation. Great savings of approximately $400 or more to fix at a shop. Auto Zone charges $100 more for same part. Watch the YouTube videos for your model. ðŸ‘

I connected the lock to test it before mounting it to the door.HOWEVER, the cables on Ford Escape are too short, and you can't install the lock with cables already connected. Why is that a problem? It uses a large, tight plastic connector, and on the new device, it's a real pain to disconnect it again so it's easier to put it in place before connecting the lock.Other than that, it was a perfect, fast, and cheap fix for the rear liftgate door problem. Hopefully, it'll last a while.

Product fit and worked as it should and was easy to install! Giving 4 stars as it's only been installed on the car for about 2 weeks now.

But keep Original Part to avoid trouble codes on dashboard and in car Locking System

Works perfectly at a fraction of the price of mfg or local parts store. Thanks!
