I live in older house where there's obviously been somebody before me on every single outlet. Whether it's painting or a good old-fashioned hammer that was supposed to solve the problem, I tend to have enlarged holes or sunken boxes or other such mess. These are great to give you a nice firm surface to secure your replacement outlets too that also provide a flush seat to the wall. That way when you put your wall plate on it it's also nice and flush to the wall.Nice thing to have in a general homeowners kit, if you run across this odd issue instead of having your outlets look weird and not sit right you could go ahead and correct it. Nice cheap fix to a common problem. I can recommend these. Also because they're made of metal they'll assist in self grounding as well. Big plus!

The value on these are just right, while the big box hardware stores charge ridiculous prices for these. On top of that these are heavier duty, so you can tighten down the screws with worrying about these flexing and bending. I’m very happy with them.

I just moved and many of the outlets in this new house are visibly not secured right. See the pic's in the Amazon listing to see what I mean. And, some of them look OK, but when you go to plug something in and when you unplug it, the outlet is moving around behind the faceplate - not good!!!This is a quick and easy solution to those problems. See the Step 1, Step 2, Step 3 picture in the listing and follow along - easy and safe (do turn off the power for your safety).I have used something like this before and they were made of a very stiff pressed board of some sort - they worked fine, but now that I've used these metal ones, I definitely prefer these.5 Stars for an easy and permanent solution to my problem.

At first, I thought it must not work, because the outlet in my sons bathroom still sunk down below the cover after putting one of these under it. Except then I realized that the outlet had been screwed down so tight that the "ears" (the little flap at the ends that gets screwed down) had bent outward. Needless to say, that outlet just needs to be replaced. In the mean time, I ended up sliding 2 of these underneath it and it helped enough for now.The only reason I removed a star is that I feel like $14 for 10 of these seems a bit overpriced. I've never bought something like this before, so maybe they're all like this? It just seems like over $1 each for a small, simple, laser cut piece of metal is a little much.

I got this to provide a little more support for an old-work single gang box that has mangled drywall where the bottom tabs need to be supported, which is not the original function of this product. I can see where this would work very well to support or provide extra space for an outlet or switch. Where have these been all my life?We all have them: outlets or light switches where the hole was cut a little too big and the plug can be tightened down to go way inside the wall... So you use the face plate to hold it out in place, but that eventually breaks and it's all sketchy. I hate that!Well, these are the solution! They make a much more solid connection with the wall to hold the switch or outlet in place.I used these on a 2-gang outlet/switch above my counter. I don't think these are meant for 2 gang, but I just overlapped them a little and that actually helped get them straighter inside.I'm going to be using these all over the house! So happy!

I held these against my brand name ones from Lowe's and they are nearly identical dimensionally. They are a bit thicker, and the holes to allow face plate screws when using decorator style are a hair off on the narrow side, but otherwise they are a very capable copy. However, they don't appear to be solely metallic and have a coating/paint on them.
