These screws offer two features favorable to campers. First, they maintain compatibility with existing trailer/camper hardware. If, like mine, the existing hardware is virtually all #2 Robertson head (square drive), then it is handy to replace or add hardware that uses the same driver tools. After all, the Robertson head is a superior drive system. When Henry Ford was offered the Robertson head, he liked it so much he wanted the exclusive rights to its use. Robertson refused, so Henry resorted to changing to the Phillips drive system from the then current slotted head screws. The second feature that is marginally attractive is that these screws can still be loosened with a Phillips bit. It's not a great Phillips configuration, but it will do in a pinch. I say loosened, because without 100% engagement of the Phillips bit, it is easier to cam out or strip the head than on a true Phillips screw. In a perfect world, the best alternative to the Robertson drive system is the Torx(r) system. It is getting more and more common in automotive applications. Why? Because it has the no cam-out feature of the Robertson drive, but with superior tool bit wear resistance to either the Robertson or the Phillips system. In a high production environment, tool wear results in poor screw retention and poor ability to apply consistent torque over thousands of tool applications. As the tool bits wear, the potential for damage to the screw or the finished product increases, increasing repair and maintenance costs. Thus the attractiveness of the Torx(r) system in the automotive world. Except for its relative scarcity, I would take a Robertson or Torx(r) drive over a Phillips drive any day. Both systems allow for torque to be applied independent of any axial force on the tool. I've drilled out or ground down too many Phillips head screws in my life to say much good about it. Too bad Henry was so greedy.

Worked as expected and good quality. Don't use externally as they will rust. Tested on some tin, screwing into wood, to test. Did not hold up. Was curious, but great internal screws!!

It gets the job done. Just be careful with the screwdriver for the white paint can come off easily. Just be gentle or give it a dab of rustoleum to give it more protection or make it whiter.

Been remodeling/restoring an older trailer for about a year and have used numerous RecPro parts. In fact, this bulk screw purchase is my third for this project. #2 Quad drive (square) heads are exact for the bits. Have never twisted a head off unlike some other brands. White coating is durable, maybe even baked on.
