I've installed 6 mini splits and bought premade linesets for the first three. The length is never quite right, lead time is long. On the last 3 I simply couldn't get premade linesets in the correct length (40 feet) in any reasonable timeframe (and they cost $$$, plus I would have had to get 50' linesets and charge with more refrigerant which is $$$ also), so I got this Rectorseal set and bulk copper tubing and decided to give it a go. Yeow, it's actually really easy. First, although they're black, do NOT use an impact. I used my Makita 18v drill... the 40v was too powerful even. Wear thick gloves because the copper gets hot. 1/4 was more difficult than 3/8 and 5/8 because it's so small and flimsy. I had to cut off my first flare but the rest all came out just fine and cut perfectly to length. Commissioned all the units and they're running great.

I do HVAC installs and this products great. Makes good flares fast! Recommend using with a 18-20v impact drill for best use as my 12v milwaukee impact didn't have enough power.

I use this everyday at work and it’s absolutely amazing! Saves so much time and can flare in tight spots, I’d recommend this to anyone working with flaring!!

I’m an hvac tech and was tired of hand swaging and flaring copper line sets for mini splits. You throw this on an impact driver and hold the pipe straight and drill out the flare. You kinda have to be cautious tho because the pipe will get hell hot! Lol other than that as long as you drill straight you’ll get the perfect flare every time

I was excited to use these. I deal with copper everyday for work. I tried out the 1/2 first. Worst flare that I have ever seen. On top of that. Im pretty sure you have to be a gorilla to hold the copper it I ended up putting the end in a vise. The 5/8th broke in the impact. Im disappointed in these to say the least.

Not sure if others have used their impact with these. Don’t. Just because it has the 1/4†quick connect doesn’t mean you should use it. It’ll warp and potentially break the bit. This works very well, I’ve used it on a few Mitsubishi splits and made the installation go quick with no leaks. Keep the drill straight start it up then slowly insert it on full speed. Once done tighten the nut to the male end while it’s still hot and you get the perfect joint/flare.
