I am a professional dog trainer and use this product frequently. It is the perfect consistency -- not crumbly or pasty like other brands (I have also tried Pet Botanics and Natural Balance rolls), so there is less mess and distraction when using it for training. Going through about a 3rd of the log at a time, I cut it into tiny cubes, put them into ziploc sandwich bags, and store them in the fridge until ready to use. I have even found that if you leave the cubes out of the fridge in the open air overnight (oops), the cubes dry up nicely without crumbling or spoiling, and become a usable dry treat. Beware: I also once purchased the Lamb and Rice flavor roll and it was unusable for training because of its consistency. Very dry and crumbly, so the cubes I cut didn't hold together at all, there were crumbs everywhere, and I wound up tossing it. Not sure if that was an anomaly, but I was disappointed with that flavor and probably won't try it again. This Chicken and Liver roll is now my go-to training reward. I wouldn't feed this as a dog's main meal, but as a treat/reward it is wonderful. Inexpensive, relatively healthy, and most dogs love it. Since I use a lot of treats, using this roll is MUCH more cost effective than purchasing pre-cut training treats. I save even more money by using amazon's Subscribe and Save. Love this product.

I've owned five German Shepherds, one Dalmation, and one mixed breed dog over a 15 plus yr. period. The Redbarn product is far superior in quality. Not one dog has disliked the product. The plus is that you don't have to refrigerate the Red Barn roll until it is opened. Also, the portions of food you use from the roll can be adjusted by you in the event your budget is a little tighter at certain times of the month. I put slices of the food on top of a good quality dry dog kibble when I need to stretch my money. I like the variety in sizes of the rolls as well as varied content of each roll. Finally, many sources are embracing this product, and I am glad this site sells it at the most reasonable prices I have seen. LORI, Phila.

I have 2 Labs and 1 Terrier. All 3 really like all of the flavors of Redbarn roll food. I like that there is no can to recycle . From a health standpoint, the ingredients are good, maybe not as good as some of the very best can foods but still good and at a reasonable price. I usually mix the redbarn with a high quality dry food. Recommended.

I like how Ramblin' Jax enjoys the chicken and the lamb roll! He eats it up and then he licks his chops and wags his tail!

Purchased 4# roll of chicken Red Barn roll. I have been using rolls like this (and frequently Red Barn) to cut up for my training classes for YEARS!!! I cut slices and freeze -- they are terrific and convenient. Never had one crumble like this, so the good price was definitely NOT WORTH IT. About 1/3 of the 4# roll of chicken was left in crumbles, so it's not usable except maybe to spread on kibble for the dog's enjoyment. Weird, it seemed moist enough (and would "pack" if you pressed the crumbles together) but you could not cut even one slice without way too much waste based on the many many rolls I have used through the years. Something not right -- not worth the savings.

I went back to Red Barn after 5 years. Originally, this dog food was very moist and could be rolled into treats for training purposes; it worked great and was so economical for training purposes. I recently went back to this food to use for pilling purposes. The 2 - 4lb rolls, chicken flavor, I've bought separately one month apart were dried out and turned into a crumbly mess, so much so, I checked the pull date. The wrapper said good until Dec. 2025. I'm very disappointed in a once great quality item, being so disappointingly dry.

This unfortunately made my dog sick. She absolutely loves it - the only thing I've seen that makes her drool! But after our second order, and digestive problems both times, I don't think I can use it any more. The first time, she didn't have trouble digesting it until we'd had it for a while - so I thought something else was causing the problems or that the product had spoiled/gone bad. We went a week without this on some vet recommended dog food to fix the stomach issues. Then I got a second shipment of this, and after 24 hours of having it, she was sick again. :( I was only using this for treats and training, not as her food. Perhaps its just too rich for my dog. I'm bummed, since she likes it so much - all the other dogs who aren't affected by it are lucky!

Cut them up into slices and cube, then bag a bunch in seperate baggies, and freeze. Great dog treats for training and the dogs love it.
