Foam Hiking Seat Pad

Reality check, good for what they are, a thin insulating layer. Not a thick, comfortable cushion.Good for sitting on a cool surface, or kneeling at a water source, or for a little extra insulation or support in the night or as a place to sort small stuff. Not a thick soft cushion, but the tradeoff is that they are small, light weight, cheap and have little bulk. That comprimise is important to backpackers. My intended use is a little extra help under pressure points, like the hip, laying down at night, where I need a little extra insulation or support when on another, larger foam pad without bringing a 2nd pad, or (heavan forbid) trimming a large one down to torso size. A plus is that the pattern of eggcrate is not the same, will not line up with or disappear into, the larger pad, that allows full use of the thin material, adding cushion and insulation. Can be folded fkat, in half or 4 folds high to customimze use Small enough for several to pack easily into and around my backpack.I bought 4 of the blue for about $20.00 or 5 bucks each. As to durability, only time will tell.Looking ahead, I can see using one as an inner, top layer inside a cooler come summer.

I got these for snowshoeing. They are great for that purpose. These are great for sitting on the snow, logs, rocks, etc. while out on the trail. Because they are waterproof and insulated, it is great for carrying with you during the snowshoeing trip.Pros:1. They are waterproof so you can stay dry while sitting on the snow. Much better than sitting on your pant seat.2. The insulation makes it so that you can keep warm under your seat. Adding this layer underneath you keeps your seat warm.3. They are so lightweight you don't know you are carrying it. Whether inside your pack, or strapped to the outside, the weight is so negligible.4. It makes sitting on a log or rock so much more comfortable.Cons:1. It doesn't fold up as small as a blow up seat pad, but so much easier to just pull out and set down. It can easily strap to the outside of your pack. IT takes up a little more space, but so lightweight you won't notice it.2. You have to set it on something, it's just a pad, not a chair. If you want to carry a chair with you that won't sink into the snow, then go ahead and carry one (which I do while backpacking during the summer), but I have chosen that while snowshoeing I don't typically want to stop for a long time because then you get cold. So this pad works perfect.3. I have used this only three times and have not had any issues with durability, but I can see how it could possibly get punctured under the right conditions. Just remember, it is basically a closed cell pad.

These are better than some of the high-end closed-cell foam seat pads and for a fantastic price. We use them for backpacking and some day hikes. They are insanely lightweight. The seat pads have a strap to hold them closed and are easy to secure to the outside of a hiking pack. I have four children, and I love that the cushions came in a four-pack as now each child has one. This is one of our best backpacking purchases.

Ordered a different one/ brand. Returned it. Felt cheap. Found a hiking site reviewing sit pads, and it rated this brand as being good for an "off brand" (non name brand). I ordered the 4 pack (due to pricing), though really only needed one. All I needed - some padding for sitting. Goes hiking with me.

It is lightweight and effective. My kids took them on a class camping trip.and were very happy to have them. We use them to perch on while taking a hiking break. They are do lightweight that ot adds nothibg to the backpack.Only recommend improvement is to have a loop to clip them to a backpack rather than having to put into the backpack.

Beware!!!!! These are the cheapest made "pads" I've ever seen to cost so much!!! VERY VERY thin and not at all like advertised and then they give you a QR code only, to return them!! This QR code won't work if trying to send back by UPS and they do not give you the option of printing a return label!!! These aren't even worth the one star I gave them but had to in order to write review!! AWFUL!!!!!!

These foam pads are super small. I thought that because they were made for camping, they would open up to at least fit under a small sleeping bag. I was wrong. I got them to put under a small pool, and they absolutely will bot work for that purpose. There's no way to connect them to make a bigger pad. With no directions, I have no idea how they're intended to be used. They don't lay flat, they don't connect to ea h other, and I have no idea what the straps are for, other than holding them closed... which isn't even necessary because they want to stay in the accordion position when you open them, anyway.
