4/13/2019. Had a significant issue with a neighbor who was creating a neighborhood disturbance to all the neighbors within 500 feet in a residential area. This tool provided metrics useful to convince local city authorities to take action and resolve the issues. Worth the cost. I did extensive research for a reliable unit that can record readings and of the two on the market under $800, this was the best. Very pleased with the performance and ease of operation. Comes with a hard case but I also bought the soft carry case and the calibrator device. Without the calibrator you have no evidence to convince authorities that the readings are reliable and they will not accept them.

Item was shipped in manufacturer box with label slapped on the front. Item was not put in a shipping box. Box was not sealed. There was no plastic covering, not even tape on the top or bottom opening at flap. Unit itself appeared to be used. There was no protective plastic covering over the display and there were wear marks on the unit. This is an expensive little unit, regardless of the price, I was under the impression I was getting a new unit, not a previously used or returned item.

It's three stars because it came with out the certificate in paper, just an sticker attached to the instrument, and at the description you could read the following: "This product includes a calibration certficate traceable to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology)", also the calibration period it's from Apr 19, 2016 to Apr 19, 2017, so I just lost five months of the certificate with out use it

Item was received in previously-used condition: scratched display screen w/ protective overlay film missing. Be sure to check your unit closely to ensure it isn't a previously-owned return. Note unique unit number on the picture of the back of the sound meter to make sure you don't receive this same unit.

Buyer Beware:The product itself seems fine but Amazon has a history of selling used units as new. If you call and complain with evidence you can get a 50% discount on the used unit.
