I bought this for a project bc when I worked as a home builder I had one that was completely trustworthy. The new ones are different-no firing pin. This must be a safety feature added to reduce accidental firings. Even with a 2 1/2 pound sledge I could not get this to fire-bought new shells-same result. Ridiculous change-heavy hammer bounce plates around so even if it were to fire plate would be in wrong place. When I finally decided it was garbage I was over my 30 days so seller would not replace. This product is worthless!

I only needed to use it for ,four walls in my basement and it worked great.I did not need a large high tech version.

This was a replacement gift, I was worried it might not be as good as his previous one. He said it is even better.

Did not work at all. Made a firing pin assembly out of one of the high strength nails and it's washer. Now it works good, an additional step to position the assembly in the chamber above the charge. Do it in the horizontal position and carefully close it.----grind off the nail about. .200" from the head . Put the short nail (with the head) through the hole in the washer . With a ball peen hammer mushroom the cut off end into a rivit that is firmly attached into the washer . Turn it over and drimmel away part of the nail head surface until there is a wedge shape left sticking up (firing pin surface). The nail is such excellent steel it should last a long time as a firing pin in a wedge shaped format. The washer is the perfect size to fit in the chamber and the nail head in the washer centers perfect on the charge.---- Lot of trouble for something that should have already had a firing pin but at least it is useable now. Other than that , it seems pretty solid.

I am not sure why this unit does not work very well however I’m using the required shot cartridges and nails I push it down as it says however sometimes you have to hit it five or six times to get it to work. The older ones worked far better. Maybe this is a safety feature that makes the tool not work very well, as in many things these days like the new gas cans. There are so many safety features that you spell more fuel messing with them than the old ones which to me is a hazard.

Bought somewhere else but the problems others experience is because once you put in the shell you have to maintain the top down on the shell. Then hit with hammer. If you let it spring away before hitting it you will experience the misfires and shell popping out issues. I haves in the drawer that are 15 yrs + old and they still fire. My reason for posting is I experienced same issues and figured out it was user technique issues.

DO NOT BUY THIS! This hammer was shipped with no internal firing pin. You can pound on it until the cows come home, but it will never drive a nail. It will never act as a hammer. I inspected the hammer upon receipt, but did not discover the defect until I tried to use it, becasue the defect is internal. I am not the only person to complain about receiveing one ofd these that can not under any circustances fire. I was diagnosed and am being treated for cancer. This delayed my use of the product beyong the 30 days. But who would ever expect such an agregious oversight as leaving out the pin the fires the cartiage that drives the nail. Terrible product, for which the manufactrer will take no responsibility. Shameful.
