Bought this to wire up a retro T5 fixture for my reef tank canopy. This is the perfect 18 gauge solid wire for that job. I had a hard time finding this stuff in stores and the closet thing Home Depot had was 2 in 1 wire for lamps. This wire locked in perfectly to my ballasts and to the waterproof T5 sockets. Just be careful when routing it since it is solid try not to kink it be gentle and make sure you secure it every few inches or so. Neat wiring is very important when working around fish tanks.

I only needed four different colored spools, but it was much cheaper to buy it this way. The handy box dispenser was a let down. The spools move around and get tangled inside, but it keeps them neat otherwise.

This is solid copper wire; I'm not sure why some of the reviews have claimed it is not. (Yes, it is tinned, but that is a good thing: it protects the copper from corrosion.)The box is slightly different than the one pictured in the product listing. The spools are arranged as two columns of three, rather than six side-by-side.

The wire is solid, but it's not solid copper. It has a copper core and a silvery outside. I believe it's copper-clad aluminum or tin coated copper, but I've never used either. I have no way of knowing as there's nothing here on the product page, nothing on the box, and the seller wasn't helpful in the questions section.Whatever it is, it's good enough to work with my lighting ballast and no problems, at least so far.
