These drum head skins are the best for the Middle Eastern doumbeks (darbukahs) and the African Djembes (the Latin bongos and congas are better fitted with natural buffalo skin). Historically, before the advent of synthetic skins, professional drummers preferred natural fish skin (over goat or sheep skin). Well-tuned fish skin produces the best sound in terms of deep (and not defused) base and sharp teks (high pitch). The problem with natural fish skin is that it is very difficult to tune correctly and it breaks easily. Remo produced this synthetic fish skin. It amazingly reproduces the sound of the natural fish skin without any problems: it's mechanically tunable and it's very durable. I have many hand drums with different head skins. This is definitely the best sounding skin. Highly recommended.Followup (1/16/2023):I just read the one-star very negative review and saw the accompanied photo. I have been using these head skins for many years and on several drums and I know that most professional hand-drummers use these head skins without ever encountering any problem. I am not sure why the head skin broke so quickly with that reviewer, but I am speculating that it might have been over-tuned and over-stretched. There is a certain degree of care and art in tuning hand drums, and if the person is not sufficiently careful, he or she might destroy the skin. Another speculation is that this specific problem was a fluke (this could happen to any product), but I am not sure why the customer didn't contact Remo for a replacement skin or for a refund. Remo is an outstanding company and they pride themselves for the high quality of their products. I am sure if they are contacted, they would replaced the skin without any hesitations.

A very poor quality product, I could not use it because it did not last 3 hours when it broke.
