I used this to rig up a set of LED shop lights in my basement and it works like a dream. Easiest installation imaginable. An electrician quoted me almost $2,000 to hardwire lights into my existing switch. This little thing saved me all kinds of money.

This product works well and I've had no issues after the set up phase. I love that you can pull out the on/off switch and it turns into a remote. I had some trouble with set up though. It all ended fine, but I spent a good chunk of time more than I would have expected. Firstly to turn it on you have to pull out the small plastic thing blocking the battery. Pretty standard stuff there, but to twist off the batter cap thing, you have to pull down on this little piece of plastic (see photo). It took forever. Secondly, to screw the whole case into the wall you have to remove the back plastic piece from the front. I thought I was going to break it it was on so snuggly. I spent forever reading the instructions to see if I was just doing it wrong and that there was a latch somewhere. Nope, you just have to pull hard and hope for the best. Aside from the confusion in set up, this works really well.

I needed a simple way to control a lamp across the room, and this remote outlet switch seemed like the solution. Setting it up was super easy, and I was able to plug the lamp in and control it immediately — the range is also pretty good; I can turn the lamp on and off from anywhere in the room. I've been using it for a few weeks now, and it's worked flalwlessly so far. I also like that there's no wiriing involved, and the remote is small and easy to keep on my nightstand ðŸ‘. It’s also great for other appliances; I'm considering getting another one for the Christmas tree next year; it would make things much easier; I highly recommend it.

Well, this is another example of why one should read the owner’s manual. I thought I knew how to open a battery compartment door but I was wrong. This manufacturer put a small plastic lock on the battery door, and it works VERY well. I tore up the back of the plastic door trying to open it before I looked at the manual and realized the door locks. Even after releasing the lock, it was difficult to open the door. I’m not sure if that was because of something I did in my earlier attempt to open it, the extra thickness of the “battery insulation sheet†(a plastic piece that isolates the battery during shipment), or the nature of the door and it’s closure system. You DO have to remove the insulation sheet before the remote will work. Anyway… once I got the insulation sheet removed, the outlet and remote worked just fine. I haven’t tested the range, but I don’t expect to be using this over long distances. Right now I have a Christmas light connected to the outlet and it’s very convenient to turn on and off using the remote. I’m using the remote separate from the wall switch but I assume it would work just as well with the plastic frame screwed to a wall. I’m giving this 5 stars because I believe my troubles were operator failure. The product works very well and the manual does describe the locking mechanism on the battery door. I think this is “my badâ€. The product is fine and doing just what I want it to do.
