(Update) Almost one year later and this system is still working great. Very happy with it.Arrived as expected and was really well packaged. Setup was more or less plug and play. Pretty simple if you can read basic instructions. Plug your set top box into a TV, and follow the onscreen prompts. Hook up your cameras and the device auto detects them. Set up the cameras sensitivity to alerts and that is it.They have a real simple to use app for android/apple and it seems to be quite stable thus far. Alerts come in quickly. You can record playback directly to your phone and it actually goes into your camera roll instead of their app thankfully. It also has a stand alone app for PC that works great and is easy to customize. With the PC app you can actually use your PC as a DVR of sorts if you want to. Can also record footage directly to your computer. Pretty nifty I thought.Video quality surpassed my expectations by quite a bit. Some of these companies consider "4k" potato cam quality video. I can verify that these cameras actually do record in 4k. The addition of 2way talk and a useful spotlight on them further enhances their use. I find myself turning the spotlights on quite often. The playback experience is quite fast too. They have indicators in the playback timeline so you can just zip to where the cameras detected motion and go from there. There isn't much in the way of lag while skipping around different times. My previous camera systems playback mode was super frustrating to use, so this was a welcome change.I read a bunch of reviews of this system and one of the big gripes was false alerts. I can see this being an issue for some, but it just appears to be the nature of the game. From what I have read most of the current generation of camera systems suffer the same fault. I have most of my cameras set to near the lowest alert setting and it seems to have killed most of the false alerts. Getting the random buzz in my pocket because a bug walked across the lens of my camera isn't going to be a deal breaker.I had to purchase longer cables of 150ft to get my cameras to their desired location. If you need to exceed 60ft I would suggest buying the "CableGeeker" flat cat6 ethernet cable. They are extremely thin and are easy to run with basic cable management.Overall I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. If it blows up in the next year or something else happens to it I will add to this review.

I’ve owned and used this for about 6 months. The setup, operation, and iOS are straight forward and easy to use. The motion detection is ok but not very smart it frequently thinks objects are people and other stuff like that. There are lots of configurations and options that can probably make it better, but I am hoping they make it a little smarter in future updates. The cameras are pretty clear and I have no real complaints other than I wish the reset and power cords were in the camera and not on extra cords. They just don’t look good when installed. The NVR failed after 6 months. Just died. I contacted support and they did a warranty return and replace and it’s working again. The only thing I am disappointed in is that I had to pay to ship the dead one back to them. I hope it was just a manufacturing defect and the new one will last a couple of years.

With a little DIY knowledge there not complicated to install. where and how to run the wiring is the most difficult. Just finding where to access and where to run. Mounting the cameras was easy with the provided templates. They were easy to hook up and easy to configure. the picture quality is good even with infrared.

I do not understand all the negativity towards Reolink. I replaced my (not that old) Lorex 4k 8 channel PoE system at my residence with this. I am BLOWN away at how much better this system is in literally every category. The cameras feel extremely well built, the app is 100x more refined with no bugs I have come across. The installation (after running your Ethernet cables) is simple. Price is on the lower end considering the image quality and motion detection. Speaking of motion detection, it is so smart it is scary. The only thing I don't know is how they will hold up in my climate. I live in central Ohio where it can be as cold as -20F and as warm as 105F and sometimes swings more than 60 degrees in days. So far though I can't recommend this system and Reolink products enough.I purchased this 12mp 4 camera 8 channel system and added a Duo 2 and spotlights, and a PTZ. I love how you can literally add any Reolink PoE camera and the NVR automatically connects it in less than a minute. That aspect really sold me. The motion detection is so much better than my previous Lorex system it is insane. And I can't get enough of the features in the app

Superior picture quality the best in class. I also have a Lorex 12MP System here and the picture quality between the two is no different. This thing is absolutely insane when it comes to picture Video quality there is nothing that can beat this even though. Lorex cost two times more the reolink app is also much better more straightforward easy to use faster and much easier to find a video that you will be looking for. For this price, you cannot go wrong go for it.
