I had been getting an intermittent HeR code. After using the ZGrill troubleshooting guide I tried unsuccessfully to get them honor their warranty. No answer to emails or voicemail. So I purchased this probe on Amazon and followed the directions of another reviewer. I unplugged unit, unscrewed faceplate, unscrewed probe and cut off the probe end. Then I taped the old and new wire together to snake it down into the wiring box. I needed a tiny screw driver to unscrew tiny screw at the connection (blue tip wire, small green box on the back of the motherboard. then I inserted the new tips, tightened the screws and then tucked everything in. Screwed faceplate and probe into place. EASY. WORKS! 350 degrees steady for 30 minutes.

I bought these to replace my older ones that were starting to to wear. They seem to be right in line with the OEM originals. As to durability have not had or used them enough to give an honest opinion.

We did use a YouTube video for installation instructions but they were very easy to follow. Now my smoker is as good as new.

Determined that the inconsistent temperature and random Her error codes were a result of a faulty temperature sensor probe. I have a 700 series Z grill smoker and this probe seems to be a perfect replacement. The difference being it does not contain the connector half way along wire which would make a swap out a bit easier. I recommend disconnecting the temp probe connector located half way along wire. Remove the digital controller and the screw in plug on the back will be apparent. Then install the new probe and simply pull the new probe wire through using the old wire. After installing I ran the smoker for about a half hour and it seemed to be good as new. Nice consistent temperature. On a side note Zgrill is also sending a replacement under warranty. They were responsive to my emails. I had already ordered this one before I heard back from them. Considering the original only lasted about 18 months it will be good to have a spare .
